💧👶 Is your babysitter water safety educated?

The National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA) created a Caregiver Water Safety Checklist to help parents and caregivers understand the steps needed to keep kids safer in and around water.

We’ve partnered with NDPA to help raise awareness about drowning prevention and share resources that empower families and caregivers with the right knowledge.

“I'm an adult. Isn't it too late for me to learn swimming?”

No.

It's not too late.

Not even close.

I've seen adults walk into a pool nervous about putting their face underwater…

…and gradually become comfortable swimmers.

The secret?

Don't start with complicated strokes.

Start with:

Comfort → Breathing → Floating → Balance → Movement → Technique

One step at a time.

You don't need to be athletic.

You don't need to have learned as a child.

And you certainly don't need to feel embarrassed.

You simply need to start.

Swimming can become a lifelong skill, a form of exercise, and a source of confidence.

Your age isn't the problem. Not starting is.

Ready to finally learn?

Book a SafeSplash trial lesson and take your first step in the water.

“What if my child accidentally falls into the water?”

It's a scary thought for every parent.

And it's exactly why water safety should be part of swimming education.

Swimming isn't just about learning freestyle.

Children should gradually learn important survival skills such as:

→ Floating
→ Breath control
→ Safe water entry
→ Finding and reaching the wall
→ Getting out of the water
→ Staying calm when they unexpectedly enter water

But there's one thing every parent should remember:

Swimming lessons never replace active adult supervision around water.

The goal of lessons is to give children skills and confidence that can help them respond more safely around water.

Don't wait until your child is comfortable in the pool.

Start building those skills now.

Book a SafeSplash trial lesson and let your child begin learning essential water safety skills.

“My child is scared of water. What should I do?”

This is one of the most common things parents tell us.

And here's what I want you to know:

Don't force them.

When a child is afraid of water, pushing them into the pool can make the fear stronger.

Instead, build confidence one small step at a time.

Start with:

→ Sitting near the pool
→ Getting their feet wet
→ Splashing and playing
→ Blowing bubbles
→ Putting their face in the water
→ Learning to float with support

Each small success tells your child:

“I can do this.”

That's how confidence grows.

At SafeSplash, we don't expect every child to learn at the same speed.

We meet swimmers where they are and help them progress from there.

Want to see how your child responds to swimming lessons?

Book a trial lesson and let them take the first step toward becoming more confident in the water.

Ever noticed how much faster kids learn when they’re having fun together? 👀

That’s one of the things we love about group swim lessons at SafeSplash.

One swimmer tries something new, and suddenly another is thinking, “I want to try that too!”

There’s a little encouragement. A little friendly motivation. And a lot more energy in the pool.

The best part? Small class sizes still allow our instructors to give each swimmer the attention they need, especially when it comes to important water-safety skills.

At the same time, kids learn by watching their classmates.

They see a new technique.

They try it themselves.

They practice, adjust, and try again.

And sometimes, seeing another child succeed is the confidence boost they needed.

Then come the little things that make group lessons special—the cheering, the friendships, the high-fives, and those “I did it!” moments. ⭐

Because learning to swim isn’t only about building stronger swimmers.

It’s also about building confidence, one small win at a time.

Swim diaper questions come up in nearly every parent orientation, so let's settle it here.

A good swim diaper should fit snugly at the legs and waist without leaving red marks, and reusable swim diapers tend to hold up better across multiple classes than disposables. Avoid anything baggy, since it won't contain accidents and can affect a baby's movement in the water.

Not sure what your class requires? Check with your local front desk before your first session.

Every swimmer's journey starts here. Before strokes, before technique, a swimmer needs to feel safe and at ease in the water.

Our curriculum is built around four stages every swimmer moves through, no matter their age or starting point: Comfortable, Capable, Confident, and Competitive.
