BISON TRAIL WORKDAY #1

If you hadn't heard already... we've got 18 brand new holes to bring to life before the 42nd Annual Frontier Open!

In order to make sure the course is in top-notch shape when our 270 competitors arrive for the Frontier, we'll be hosting weekly volunteer workdays every Saturday (weather permitting).

FBDGC Club Members will receive 50 points per attendance, but more importantly - each person who lends a hand will be contributing to a community-building project that is going to have a MASSIVE impact on Hays Disc Golf and Hays itself.

When: TOMORROW, July 11th from sunup (~6am) to sundown (~8:30pm). Whether you can contribute 1 hour or 9, each set of helping hands makes a difference!

What to bring:
- Pants, long sleeves, good shoes and gloves
- Water and bug spray (we'll have some onsite, but still recommend)
- Brush-clearing hand-tools (machetes, loppers, rakes, shovels, etc)
- Power tools (experienced users only): chainsaws, sawz-alls, brush cutters, etc.
- Wheelbarrows/wagons
- Pickups / fourwheelers / UTVs

- Limited parking available at the Parks Department - if Parks Employees are on the job and you aren't personally bringing any tools with you, please park at the Dusty Glassman ballfields and walk through Holes 1&2 to meet us.

The Hays High School Class of 2016 is putting together funds to build a 9-hole disc golf course in memory of their classmate, Triston Werth.

Triston was a frequent flyer at Hays's disc golf courses, and quickly became a highly-skilled disc golfer as a result.

His 4 appearances at the Frontier Open included a 1st Place finish in the Juniors division (by 17 strokes!) at the 29th Annual Frontier Open, and a 2nd Place finish in MA3 the following year.

Along with competing in local leagues and events, he also served as a mentor to his peers and younger players - many of whom still roam with the Flyin' Bison today.

The proposed disc golf course will be located on the Hays High School / Hays Middle School campus - potentially bringing disc golf into the lives of thousands of students.

Welcome to another Touchpoint Tuesday! 📍 Did you know Hays is home to the oldest original disc golf course in Kansas? 🥏

The City of Hays Parks Department maintains a variety of disc golf facilities designed for every skill level, from seasoned professionals to weekend beginners.

Frontier Park: Established in 1983, this historic 18-hole course spans 5,734 feet along the scenic banks of Big Creek. It offers a challenging layout featuring mature trees and gentle slopes.

Sunrise Disc Golf Course: The newest municipal course! This 9-hole loop features flat terrain and concrete tees, making it highly accessible and beginner-friendly.

Rolling Hills Park: A fantastic 9-hole course perfect for a quick, casual round.

Kiwanis Park: Looking to improve your game? Utilize the dedicated putting and distance practice field before heading to the full courses.

JUNE 20TH - RAMBLIN' IN RANSOM - PDGA C-TIER EVENT

Flightplan Disc Golf is bringing back a classic Western KS event as part of the Bison Bash Series.

Ramblin' in Ransom 2026 is a PDGA C Tier - 2 Round Shotgun Start Event. We will play 2 rounds of 18 holes using the existing course and some temporary holes throughout the town.
