Hays Recreation Commission

Last week, our 12U Baseball, 15U Softball, and 15U Baseball competed in our postseason tournament. There were some great games, outstanding plays and big time hits. Congratulations to all of our teams! (See pictures for details).

Earlier today, our annual McKids Day event had players showing off their baseball skills. Make sure to cheer them on when they join the Larks on the field tonight! ⚾

What an amazing week of basketball! Our 1st–8th graders worked hard, sharpened their skills, and had fun with new friends! 🏀

This week, our School's Out crew went on an adventure to Pizza Hut to get some hands-on experience with the pizza-making process! 🍕

Thanks to our local Pizza Hut for making the day so memorable!

Just want to give a shoutout to these youngsters, and their non pictured peers.

1 of them umpired the 12u Championship Game tonight, then played in our 15u championship game tonight. 1 did the same thing, but coached in the 15u championship game. 1 of them probably drove 1000 miles this season supervising and giving rides. 1 umpired, supervised, and kept us laughing all year in a stressful job!

I say all this to say thank you, and to remind everyone our umpires care, and take pride in what they do! They love the sport. They love working with the kids. All the while, they are learning themselves.

Umpiring is not an easy job. But none of them complained. I saw some of them “tough out” some games. The Heat, the squatting behind a catcher who themselves are learning…it’s tough. But I am darn proud of the work they did this summer.

So thank you Greer, Brooke, Myles, Rhys, Layne, Thomas, Gabe, Andrew, and Kobee (all pictured below after the last game of the year). Not pictured, Zoe, Treger, Jameson, Hadley, Audrey, Elyse, Levi (both of them), Andre, Dani, Peyton, Trevor, Camryn, Jaxson, Kahner, Riley, Jace and Brynlee! Job well done!
