It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my mother, Maria Trejo. She lost her battle with cancer last Sunday. After 10 months of fighting, she gave it all she could. Now she is with the good lord in heaven. She was 71 years old.
My mom helped in so many ways, to run the gym; keep it clean, interact with customers and just make Sweet Science a better place and business. She was a very kind person. Probably the kindest most loving person I have ever known. Despite my own mistakes and bonehead decisions in life, she always stood by me with love and support. She was my angel, to pick me up whenever I was down. I don’t recall her yelling at me, not once in my entire life, although I deserved it. That’s how gentile she was.
To all the boxers who ever competed out of Sweet Science, she always asked “how did they do” she would always watch the national fights. She was very proud of all of you. She was amazing and will be missed. The silver lining, is that she is together again with my dad who passed from cancer also about 10 years ago. They were married 43 years.
Without them both, our wonderful gym wouldn’t exist. Whenever you walk through the doors of Sweet Science, give them a little thank you if you can. They’ll be smiling down on us from heaven.
