We’ve been lucky enough to have Grandma Jo here on the ranch with us this summer, and what a gift it has been.

Time with the horses, time outside, plenty of laughs, and of course lots of time with Michele and Mia. These are the kind of days you don’t realize how much you’ll miss until they’re gone.

The animals already miss her. Michele is already missing her. And JNR just won’t feel quite the same without Grandma Jo around.

We’re already counting down until she comes back. 🤎🐴

Meet Bucket. 🤎🐴

This little ham has been the perfect little blessing around JNR.

He is FULL of personality, keeps us on our toes, and absolutely loves his kids. He takes such good care of them and is working hard on his saddle manners… although Bucket definitely has his own opinions about a few things. 😂

He may be little, but his personality sure isn’t.

We sure love having Bucket around. 🤎

Dinner on the Ranch 🌾🍴

If you know Michele, you know shes a great cook!
She’s always sharing recipes with her kids, helping them figure out what to make for supper, or saying, “You know what would be good…”

So we figured we might as well start sharing some of it here too!

Tonight’s dinner: Vietnamese Pork Chops (Sườn Nướng)
Pork Chops, Rice, Fried Egg, and Olive oil with Green Onions.
Bonus Points: Veggies out of the Garden!

Simple, delicious, and perfect for a hot summer night.

People dont see just how rare a truly great lesson horse really is.

The kind of horse that can quietly carry a brand new rider, stay patient through all the wobbles and mistakes, build confidence without ever making a fuss, and somehow just know when a kid needs a little extra grace.

Those horses aren’t just part of the program here. They become part of us. We trust them completely, we lean on them every day, and we love them like family.

This year, we said goodbye to two of our own—Shadow and Willow—and the space they left behind is something we feel every single day.

Part of me understands the reality of running a program like this… lessons still go on, and horses like them don’t come around often.

But the other part of me just isn’t ready to even think about what comes next without them yet.

Today, I’m sitting right in the middle of both of those feelings. 🤎

We miss you so much, Shadow & Willow.

We’ve had a lot going on behind the scenes lately between family health, a horse injury, and this stretch of hot weather. We need to give ourselves, and our horses, a little time and space.

There will be no lessons for the remainder of this week. We’re planning to take a short break and will reach out when we’re ready to get everyone back on the schedule, likely after Labor Day.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. We appreciate our JNR families more than you know. 🤎

Sometimes the best part of farm life is just the everyday stuff.

No big event. No fancy plans. Just fresh air, animals that need tending, dirty boots, and another day out here at JNR.

Wouldn’t trade it for anything.
