Thank you to Ken and the runners at The Running Place for a great evening discussing doubt, race-day nerves and mind chatter. One takeaway: you don’t have to eliminate doubt before you compete with courage.

Want to put these ideas into practice? My three-part live Zoom series, Courage Over Confidence for Runners, begins September 30.

What we say to athletes matters, especially when they are already feeling disconnected from their team. Being labeled as an “injured player” can quickly become the way an athlete feels they are seen, rather than just one part of what they are currently experiencing. For coaches, teammates, and parents, creating space for athletes to feel valued beyond their ability to play can make a meaningful difference in how they navigate injury. An athlete may be on the sidelines, but they should never feel like they are on the outside of the team.

Maddie Wood, M.Ed. had such a great time at Steel United’s Fall Kick-Off Party! It was so fun connecting with players and families, answering questions about Greenepsych, and talking all things sport psychology. We love opportunities to connect with young athletes, their families, and the people who support them, especially with programs that value development both on and off the field. We’re grateful to be part of the Steel United community and can’t wait to see what’s in store for them this upcoming fall season!

Philly sports are full of big personalities, but there’s a little mental performance lesson hiding behind each one. 🦅⚾️🏒🏀⚽️ Whether it’s Swoop reminding us to choose courage, the Phanatic reminding us to have fun, or Gritty embracing the chaos, there’s something every athlete can take from the mascots we see on the sidelines.

Is it time you learn the mental skills to help you navigate the nerves, mistakes, pressure, and uncertainty that come with competing? After all, being a strong athlete isn’t just about what you do when things are going well, it’s about how you respond when they aren’t.

Biggest thing chatter robs you of is your ability to focus on the moment in front of you. Learning how to be courageous in that moment even when confidence isn’t available is the key to our Courage over Confidence training course. We were offering one course for runners right now. Check out the Lincoln bio to sign up!

That’s why I developed this course to help you manage that negative voice and for you to learn from me and others about best mental practices to be race ready. Come join us! Link in bio!
