Upper Moreland Swim Club

The humans had their fun, now it’s time for our four-legged friends to enjoy the pool. Our annual dog swim is scheduled this weekend (weather permitting):

🐾 Saturday from 11 am to 1 pm *and* 4 to 6 pm
🐾 Sunday from 12 - 2 pm

Donations are appreciated to help us defray the cost of keeping the pool open an additional week.

The event is open to all. As a reminder, owners must clean up after their pups 😉

Another amazing summer comes to an end, and we want to say a huge “thank you.” To our members for choosing this special place to make new memories, and to our staff—whether on the guard stands, managing the front desk, tending to the pools, or serving up tastes of summer at the Gator Grille. It’s all possible because of everyone who chooses to be part of the swim club community.

We’re already looking forward to Memorial Day weekend and can’t wait to see everyone back at the pool. Until then, have a healthy and safe off season.

Tomorrow, Labor Day, we are holding both our annual cardboard boat regatta and our family swim relay races that were rescheduled due to bad weather earlier this summer. Registration for *both* events begins at 1 pm tomorrow afternoon. The regatta begins at 2 and the swim races at 3.

As a reminder, the rules for the cardboard regatta: boats may be made of cardboard and duct tape only. They cannot have paint, metal or any other substance so that the pools are not damaged. Duct tape may only cover a maximum of 50% of the boat’s total surface. We hold initial heats by age groups, and winning boats advance to subsequent rounds until we have our winners.

Family swim races are friendly competitions in which various pairs of family members race. Races include combinations like parents and children, siblings, grandparents and grandchildren, etc. And we’re happy to accept things like friends, cousins, aunts, uncles, and so on. These are all for fun, and if you feel like family, that’s more than enough.

Club hours tomorrow are 12-8, so come out and enjoy a fantastic final day of the season!

After the cold, rainy start to the summer season, we earned a near ideal way to wrap it up. Less humid, more seasonable temperatures, no violent storms—this is a great Labor Day weekend.

Remember, today features a candy bar bingo game + Minions & Monsters movie night. Monday afternoon is our annual cardboard regatta and the rescheduled family day swim races.

Hours all weekend are 12-8. We’ll see you at the pool!

🎶 Don’t you forget about….chairs 🎶

As we head into the Labor Day weekend, we ask that if you keep your chairs at the club during the summer to please take them home before closing time on Monday.

Your chairs supported you all season long, now it’s time to show them some love by picking them up before the cold fall and winter months.

Summertime fun isn’t over yet! This Saturday, join us for two great events:

🍫 A pop-up candy bar bingo session begins at 6 with boards being distributed starting at 5:30. Each bingo board costs one full size candy bar, with winners taking home plenty of sweet treats to enjoy.

🍿 Enjoy some yellow mayhem with a movie night featuring Minions & Monsters beginning at dusk (roughly 8/8:30 pm). Popcorn and sodas will be for sale for $1 each. (It is a BYOB event—in this case that means bring your own banana 🍌)

Enjoy some family friendly fun this long weekend at the club. We’ll see you there!

Attention bonded Swim Club Members: the annual members’ meeting will be held this Saturday, September 5, at 11 a.m. at the club. Please note that the facility will only be open to members and only for the purpose of the meeting. Regular operating/pool hours begin at noon.

We invite members to come out and hear updates about the club’s operations and to share your thoughts and ask any questions you might have.

School may be back in session, but summer isn’t done with us just yet. We have some warm, summer-like days ahead. If any storms do pop up, that could impact our operations. As always, listen for any instructions from our staff about safety precautions just in case nature sends a little something our way. Things look really nice by the time we get to the long holiday weekend!

Below, we are re-sharing the anticipated facility availability schedule, from the emails sent to members over the weekend. We appreciate your understanding as most of our staff members have returned to school.

➡️Monday, 8/31: Tillman pool available from 12:00–4:00 PM; all pools available from approximately 4:00–8:00 PM.

➡️Tuesday, 9/1: Tillman pool available from 12:00–2:30 PM; all pools available from 2:30–8:00 PM.

➡️Wednesday, 9/2: One pool available from 12:00–4:00 PM; all pools available from approximately 4:00–8:00 PM.

➡️Thursday, 9/3: Tillman pool available from 12:00–2:30 PM; all pools available from 2:30–8:00 PM.

👶Baby Pool: The baby pool will also be open during these times. A parent must be sitting on the side of the baby pool while their child is using it. If a parent is not sitting poolside, the baby pool cannot be used.

🍔Gator Grille: The Gator Grille will not be available until 4:30 PM each day for the entire week.

Labor Day is our last regular operating day for the season. We anticipate sharing additional details about a post-season doggie swim soon.

We want to wish all of the Upper Moreland students headed back to school this week the very best for a wonderful school year ahead. Special thanks to the teachers, support staff, administrative staff, volunteers and everyone who gives their all to support the students.

To our own staff members who are heading back to class, and those who already ventured off to college campuses, a special thank you for all of your hard work this summer. We could never do it without you.

Here’s hoping tomorrow isn’t *too* manic of a Monday as the new academic year begins.
