In Oct-Nov 1984, while I was training in Okinawa, at the Nagamine Honbu dojo, Nagamine Takayoshi Sensei was busy many daytime hours campaigning for his Naha City Council position. However he still found plenty of time to be at the dojo for evening classes & take us around Okinawa on the days he was free, as well as weekends. It was a great day of "Giving" and "Training" at the Champions Do Overcome event for the children and families dealing with Pediatric Cancer and our Seminar with Eihachi Ota Sensei

I was honored to help support this event with 3 of our dojo Yudansha, Eric Weikel, Dan Eppinghoff and Bruce Abbott. It was also a great reunion with my former karate student, UFC Champion Rich Franklin, who trained at our dojo in Harrison Ohio during the late 1980s & early 1990s, before he began his MMA career

Our dojo was honored to participate & teach at a Regional Seminar on Saturday, in Cincinnati Ohio.

USKK Karate Symposium this past weekend. We had a very enthusiastic group of Karateka, who were able to hon new skills and even walk away with a few bruises on their arms, after our Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu session of training Saturday afternoon.
Thanks to all that attend, especially Dan Eppinghoff & Dana Hesson-Stafford, two of our black belts who helped me with the teaching.

Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu History in Harrison Ohio began 46 years ago with our first commercial dojo opening 43 years ago.

After training with Nagamie Takayoshi Sensei since 1970, Sensei return home to Okinawa in 1979. We were now on our own for awhile to train and developwhathetaughtus..

In 1980 we began teaching a self defense course in Harrison Ohio. Then In 1981 we began teaching regular classes at the Junior high school, with the Community Ed program.

After building up a core of over 40 students in 1983, we opened up a Dojo in Harrison Ohio. This began the history of Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu,
Training 6 days a week, at our Harrison Ohio Dojo.

In 2001, I moved our Honbu dojo to Indiana, where I still teach Yudansha ranks & visitors from around the country & many parts of the world.
