🟢⚽️ SEE THE GREEN BADGE? THEY’RE UNDER 18.
You may have noticed some of our referees wearing a green U.S. Soccer referee badge this season. That badge has an important meaning: the referee wearing it is a minor.
These young officials are certified referees who have stepped up to take on one of the toughest jobs on the field. They’re learning, developing their skills, making decisions in real time — and helping make it possible for our kids to play the game they love.
Just like our young players, young referees are going to have great games, challenging games, and moments they learn from.
So when you see that GREEN BADGE, let it be your reminder:
🟢 Be patient.
🟢 Be encouraging.
🟢 Respect the call.
🟢 Let coaches coach, players play, and referees referee.
The way we treat young officials today directly impacts whether they choose to come back tomorrow. And without referees, there are no games.
Let’s make Harris County a place where young referees can learn, grow and develop their confidence in a positive environment. 🖤💛
