Since its founding, the Eastern North Carolina Dance Foundation has remained committed to enriching the lives of young dancers through education, performance opportunities, scholarships, and community outreach. Beyond their rigorous training and performance schedule, Dance Collective members actively engage in service and leadership opportunities throughout the year.
Through the Foundation's signature outreach initiative, Power of Dance, company dancers share their passion for dance with local Boys & Girls Club participants each spring. This outreach effort culminates in Community Dance Day, a free annual event that provides dance experiences, performances, and educational opportunities for children and families throughout the community.
The Dance Collective is also proud to host a chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA), recognizing students who demonstrate outstanding artistic achievement, leadership, character, and academic excellence. In addition, company members participate in annual benefit performances and fundraising initiatives that support scholarships, community outreach programs, and charitable organizations throughout eastern North Carolina.
To date, the Foundation has awarded more than $40,000 in summer study tuition scholarships to deserving Dance Collective members, helping young artists pursue professional-level training throughout the United States. These opportunities help develop not only skilled artists, but also compassionate leaders who use dance to make a positive impact within their community.
"We are incredibly proud of these dancers and the dedication they demonstrate throughout the year," said Artistic Director Kim Saad. "Their acceptance into these outstanding programs reflects countless hours of training, perseverance, and a genuine love of the art form."
The Eastern North Carolina Dance Foundation and Greenville Civic Ballet extend their sincere gratitude to the families, donors, patrons, and community supporters whose generosity makes these opportunities possible.
Please join us in congratulating these talented dancers as they continue their artistic journeys this summer and proudly represent The Dance Collective and eastern North Carolina across the country.
