During today’s session, we used the Equi-Feedback Stirrups™, a tool I developed to encourage active muscle engagement rather than passive positioning. Designed to provide continuous proprioceptive feedback, the stirrups encourage more intentional muscle activation, support symmetrical positioning, and help reduce compensatory movement patterns during riding. Combined with the horse’s gentle, rhythmic movement, they create repeated opportunities to activate muscles, enhance body awareness, and promote balance, coordination, and motor control.

I am currently working toward bringing the Equi-Feedback Stirrups™ to market so that more riders, therapists, and equine-assisted programs can benefit from this innovative approach.

A New Addition to Clip-Clop Haven

We are excited to welcome a custom-designed therapy table to Clip-Clop Haven, handcrafted by Alexander Woodcraft of Greenville, South Carolina.

Designed specifically for our space, this versatile therapy table provides a safe and comfortable surface for therapeutic activities, assessments, positioning, stretching, and motor learning. Its unique folding “sandwich” design allows it to be stored efficiently, preserving valuable space while providing the functionality our therapists need.

This addition is another important step in the continued growth of Sun Horse Ranch.

Later this year, we are preparing to introduce a hippotherapy program that will be directed by a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) with a PhD, who is also a certified hippotherapist. The program will be further supported by a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) who is currently completing certification in hippotherapy.

By combining specialized rehabilitation equipment, experienced rehabilitation professionals, and the unique movement of the horse, we are expanding our ability to support children with neurological, developmental, and orthopedic challenges through evidence-informed, equine-assisted rehabilitation.
