Today is Throwback Thursday, and we're taking it back to the 2014 AT&T Winter National Championships, held right here at the Greensboro Aquatic Center!

From December 3–6, some of the nation's top swimmers took to the pool at the GAC for four days of championship racing. The meet included a record-breaking performance from 17-year-old , who set American and U.S. Open records in both the 500 and 1,650-yard freestyle. More than a decade later, both times still stand as GAC pool records.

The YMCA National Long Course Swimming Championships are returning to Greensboro! 🏊‍♂️

The Greensboro Aquatic Center is proud to welcome the championship back for the fourth time, July 26–31, 2027.

More than 800 swimmers from across the country are expected to compete at the GAC, bringing athletes, coaches, families and YMCA officials together for six days of championship swimming.

We can't wait to see you there!

💦 Fun Fact Friday: Fact at the GAC! 💦

🏊 Fact: The Greensboro Aquatic Center’s 2nd Grade Learn-to-Swim Program has grown tremendously! From 4 schools and 250 children in the 2011–12 school year to 54 schools and 3,400 children participating in the 2025–26 school year! 🎉

🏫This program helps Guilford County students build essential water safety skills, confidence, and comfort in the water. For more information or to donate please visit our 2nd Grade LTS page. 💙
