Congrats to Week 2 Scout Team Player of the Week, freshman linebacker Sylas Yang. Here's what Coach Witt had to say about Sylas: "Sylas showed great looks all week as a linebacker to prepare us for Southwest. He is a FRESHMAN! Loved what he displayed all week and I'm very excited to see him play on Monday."

This week's Special Teams Player of the Week honor goes to the entire Kickoff Team! Kicker Corian Longley and coverage unit Bayron Rodriguez, Lincoln Krautkramer, Luis Palacios, Christian Carrion, Maddox Yang, Shabani Salumu, Sullivan Hall, Fabian Torres-Velasquez, Luis Reyes Perez, and Kevin Pautz locked in and took this unit to the next level.

Coach Witt on the group: "From week 1 to week 2, this group sure picked up on the flaws that were displayed and made the right corrections needed to make our special teams more efficient. Super proud of every single person on this unit!!"

Junior defensive end Xavier Zeise turned in a monster performance Friday night against Green Bay Southwest — 8 tackles, including 2 for a loss and a sack - earning him Week 2 Defensive Player of the Week.

Coach on Xavier: "Xavier showed how much of a motor he truly has, playing both ways. He was flying around and never let up on a single play. Talk about leaving it out there for his brothers. He carries pride and always keeps the team together. He has very strong leadership qualities that spread like wildfire!"

Senior RB Andy Brawner turned in his first varsity game gaining 100 yards from scrimmage Friday night and earned himself Week 2 Offensive Player of the Week.

Coach Witt credited Andy's offseason work and dedication as a student-athlete, adding: "I'm happy that he is seeing it pay off, but he knows the job is not done. He remains hungry and wants to set the standard for future Red Devil running backs."
