🔥 BIG WIN FOR THE FRESHMAN! 🔥

Freshman Jeremy Cannedy (132) opens up his Texas wrestling debut with a 4–3 win over Waller senior Amori Smith!

Smith was a District Champion and State Qualifier last season, making this a BIG early-season win for Jeremy. Smith comes from a 6A School and probably the hardest region for 6A in the state!

And the match wasn’t quite as close as the score suggests — Jeremy created several early scoring opportunities that just didn’t get finished. He looked composed, aggressive, and ready to compete in his first match representing Grapevine!

Mustang Nation — it’s GO TIME.

Levi Higgins (165) and Jeremy Cannedy (132) are stepping into the Super 32 Early Entry TX, and make no mistake — this is an absolute grinder of a tournament. Tough brackets. High-level wrestlers. No easy matches.

The weight has been cut.
The preparation is DONE.
Now it’s time to compete.

Let’s flood these guys with support and let them know Grapevine is behind them. Wish them luck, lift them up in your prayers, and get ready to follow along — I’ll be posting updates throughout the day.

🚨 MUSTANG NATION — JOSE USCANGA SHOWED OUT! 🚨

Grapevine wrestler Jose Uscanga, currently competing with Boys from Dallas, turned in a HUGE performance at the Mid-Summer Mat Bash!

Jose went 6–1 at 118 pounds and came ready to score, attack, and dominate from the opening whistle!

🔥 6 straight wins
💥 2 major decisions
⚡ 2 technical falls
📌 1 pin in only 34 seconds
🏆 5 bonus-point victories

Jose earned dominant wins by scores of 13–1, 13–0, 17–1, and 16–0, and his only loss was a razor-close 9–8 battle!
That is toughness! That is effort! That is Mustang wrestling!

Jose may be representing Boys from Dallas at this event, but he is a Grapevine Mustang, and he is making Mustang Nation proud every time he steps on the mat!

Keep attacking, keep improving, and keep representing, Jose! The work is showing!

Paid Fundraiser Opportunity – Main Street Fest (May 15–17)

We wanted to share a great opportunity to support the GHS Wrestling Booster Club during this year’s Main Street Fest, taking place May 15–17.
We’ve been offered the chance to help staff one of the festival gates, and in return, the booster club will receive funding based on the number of volunteers and hours worked. This is a great way to raise money while representing our program in the community.

We are asking for volunteers to sign up for 4-hour shifts, and each shift should include:

One student wrestler
One parent, guardian, or family member (18+)
Dates: May 15–17
Location: Main Street Fest (Grapevine - S. Main Street)
Role: Service gate attendants
Shifts: 4 hours each (times will be shared via Sign-Up Genius)
This is a paid opportunity for the booster club (not individual volunteers), and all funds raised will go directly toward supporting the wrestling program.

That’s a wrap on the Grapevine Wrestling season! 🤼‍♂️💪

We sent 5 wrestlers to state, with standout finishes from Will Mason (6th at 215), Ryan Pauken (8th at 157), and Kai Nguyen (8th at 120).

This team made history by capturing a Regional Title — the first in 28 years — and repeating as District Champions! 🏆🔥

Huge congratulations to Head Coach Scott Tischer for earning Regional Coach of the Year and back-to-back District Coach of the Year honors, and to Coach Ryan Martin for being named Assistant Coach of the Year for both Region and District.

Huge shout out to our amazing trainers who took care of these amazing kids all season!

We would like to thank the community, families and businesses who supported us along the way. We couldn't have done it without you.

We’re incredibly proud of our wrestlers. Their hard work showed all season long — and this is just the beginning. The work continues as we build momentum into next year! 💯💥
