Sunday Slowdown & Reflect 🦅

As we wrap up another weekend and get ready for the work week, it’s a good time to hit the brakes, look back, and reflect on the time we’ve all shared together here at VFW Riders Group Chapter TX-19. The miles we’ve ridden, the laughs we’ve shared, and the bond we continue to build as a family mean everything. Share your absolute favorite memory below in the comments! 👇

September is Veteran Su***de Prevention and Awareness Month, and it's a vital reminder of why this community exists.

The truth is, we have no idea what you went through then, or what you are going through right now. Everyone carries battles that aren't visible on the outside.

But if nothing else matters in a dark moment, please remember this: there are people who love you and want you here. They want to share life's biggest milestones with you—wedding days, birthdays, the births of children, and everyday moments in between. They really want you there building those memories alongside them.

We are still smiling after an incredible Friday night! A group of us rolled out to Benbrook VFW Post 10429 for their epic Dolly Tribute. The absolute highlight of the night? Our very own Princess Yaya took home 1ST PLACE in the Dolly look-alike contest! 👑✨ (We always tell you guys we have fun!)

Huge shoutout to our tough celebrity judges Midget, Bubbles, and Ms. Cathy for making the tough calls, and to The Petty Betties for rocking the house with great music all night long! 🎸🎶

If you are looking to ride out, stay active, and support veteran mental health initiatives across North Texas for the rest of the month, check these out:

-3rd Annual Su***de Awareness Walk (Saturday, Sept 26):
A community-focused gathering to break the stigma around mental health struggles. Meets at Sikes Lake Pavilion (2 Eureka Circle, Wichita Falls, TX) from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM.

-Veteran Mental Health Awareness Ruck Hike (Saturday, Sept 26):
Hosted by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for Su***de Prevention Month. An outdoor social event focused on trail camaraderie. Registration starts at 8:00 AM at Lake Colorado City State Park.

-Heroes Among Us 5K Color Run & Walk (Saturday, Sept 26):
A family-friendly outdoor 5K run and walk dedicated to promoting resilience and su***de prevention awareness starting at 9:00 AM at the Early Town Center Sundial.

-Local Peer Support & TVC Resources: Take advantage of ongoing peer workouts and casual breakfasts hosted by the Military Veterans Peer Network (MVPN) across DFW to stay connected with your community.

🔄 Take a "Buddy Check" This Weekend

If you can't make it out tonight, grab a couple of riders or pick up the phone this weekend. Participate in the "Buddy Check 22" push by reaching out to three veterans you haven't spoken to in a while. Invite them out for a short cruise, coffee, or just check-in. A simple conversation can save a life.

Remember, you never have to ride solo through the dark chapters. If you or a brother or sister in arms is fighting a silent battle, please know you are never alone.

We are throwing it back to April 2025 when VFW Riders Group TX-19 rolled into New Braunfels, Texas for the VFW Motorcycle Group (MG) State Spring Rally!

From the incredible Hill Country miles and roaring engines to the unmatched camaraderie with brothers and sisters from across the state, it was a weekend for the books. There is nothing quite like the bond shared when we’re riding for our veterans.

Taking the time to deeply inspect the hidden components of your bike ensures you stay upright and in control of your journey.

Whether it's classic rock, heavy metal, or some deep country, we all have that one track that turns a good ride into a great one.

There is an undeniable therapy in the roar of an engine, the wind in your face, and the perfect soundtrack playing in your ears. Music and motorcycles both have a unique way of clearing the mind, cutting through the noise of daily life, and helping us find our peace on the open road.
