Dear Shorin Ryu Shidokan friends:
I will be attending and teaching at a Shorin Ryu seminar and friendship get together at Santiago Sacaba Hanshi’s dojo on November 27 and 28th near Milan Italy.
Santiago Sacaba Hanshi is a member of the Shorin Ryu Karate Do Kyokai, and I am sure it is going to be a wonderful friendship event, with shared, and alternate perspectives of techniques passed down from Miyahira Sensei’s lineage of Karate Instructors under the Okinawa Shorin Ryu Karate Do Kyokai currently under Maeshiro Sensei, President of the Kyokai. If you can please make plans to attend if you are able. I look forward to seeing you there.

This is one of our favorite memories of Miyahira Sensei from when he came to visit our dojo here in Grand Rapids. Miyahira Sensei was made an honorary citizen of Grand Rapids by Mayor Logie.
Miyahira Sensei said that he was very proud of this honor and he felt that the practice of Karate can help everyone from anywhere in the world to be a better persons and live together in peace and friendship.

Today we are remembering Miyahira Sensei on his birthday, August 16th, 1918. We are so thankful for his teachings and all the students he left behind to carry on his traditions and the Style of Karate that Chibana Sensei began and Miyahira Sensei carried forward and passed on to us.
