Your first step matters—so does your last.
This ladder drill is built for next-level quickness—fast feet, sharp edges, and explosive acceleration. We’re not just skating—we’re building separation speed.

At Be Ready Hockey, we believe in leading by example. I suited up to demonstrate a drill I use to challenge our athletes’ balance, edge control, and core strength. Starting from both knees on the ice, we work one-leg push and recovery into tight turns—building the kind of control that translates directly into game situations. It’s not easy, but that’s how growth happens.
If you’re looking for focused, hands-on skill development for your player this offseason, send us a message—we’d love to help them take the next step.

Bringing power and balance together. This drill works on stepping off an elevated box into a shot — helping athletes feel their stick flex, stay balanced, and drive through proper shot mechanics. Small tweaks like this can create big results on the ice. Let’s build better shooters!

Simple. Clean. Effective.
This isn’t a toe drag release—this is controlled puck movement to set up a clean shot.
We’re working on:
• A quick stickhandle to pull the puck in
• A toe drag stickhandle to shift the angle and challenge the hands
• Then setting the puck for a balanced, in-stride shot
This kind of repetition builds real in-game confidence. It’s not just about looking good—it’s about being efficient, deceptive, and ready to shoot from different setups.

Want a simple off-ice hack to improve your shot mechanics?
Try sitting on an exercise ball while practicing shooting motions!
Why it works:
• Builds core stability – Forces you to stay balanced while shooting.
• Eliminates lower-body compensation – Focuses on upper-body mechanics like hand placement, follow-through, and shot release.
• Improves posture and control – Great for muscle memory and isolating key movements.Add it to your stickhandling or shooting warm-up. Small change, big results!
