The competition isn't always the biggest threat to your business.
Sometimes it's the attention you're giving them.

Watching what competitors are doing can be smart. Becoming consumed by them can pull attention away from the things you can actually control: how you lead, how your team performs, how you serve your customers, and how consistently you deliver value.

Our newest article explores a different approach: 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆. Because resentment doesn't win loyalty. Excellence does.

Some of the biggest challenges people bring into coaching feel incredibly complicated.

There are layers. History. Relationships. Emotions. Competing priorities. Decisions that affect other decisions. And when we're standing in the middle of all of it, the natural response is often to try to solve everything at once.

Usually, that makes things feel even more complicated.

One of the things I love most about coaching is helping someone slow all of that down long enough to see what's actually happening.

• What is the real issue?
• What belongs to you—and what doesn't?
• What can you influence?
• What matters most right now?
• And what is the next meaningful step?

Very often, there's a moment when all the pieces begin to come together and I hear some version of: “𝙊𝙝! 𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙚.”

The situation may not have magically changed. But the person can see it differently. And clarity changes what becomes possible from there.

There are days that naturally cause us to remember.

People we've loved.
People we've lost.
Moments that changed us.
Lives that touched ours and left something behind.

And perhaps remembering also gives us an opportunity to think about the life we're living right now. Legacy isn't something we begin creating someday... it's happening in the conversations we have today.

The attention we give.
The kindness we offer.
The relationships we nurture.
The way we show up when someone needs us.

Most of it won't be written down or recognized publicly. It will simply live on in the people whose lives crossed ours.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆.

May we remember those who came before us by living well with those who are here now.

Sometimes the first sign that someone is struggling at work isn’t what they say. It’s what changes. A little less engagement. A shorter response. A noticeable shift in energy or performance.

It can be easy to interpret those changes as a lack of commitment. But what if the person is carrying more professional stress than they know how to manage?

This week’s article explores how leaders can respond with awareness, listening, and practical support. Not by trying to fix someone’s life, but by helping them navigate the pressures of their work with greater clarity and dignity.

An assessment can tell you a great deal about a person. Knowing what to do with that information is where the real work begins. A report may help someone understand how they communicate, what motivates them, or where their strengths and challenges may lie. But understanding the information is only the beginning.

What happens when the results don't match the way someone sees themselves? When two assessment sciences seem to point in different directions? Or when a client understands the results but isn't sure how to apply them?

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀.

The goal isn't simply to explain a report. It's to help the person in front of you make sense of what they're learning and use that awareness to move forward.

This is one of the reasons mentorship matters so much to me. Developing as a coach isn't only about learning more. It's about learning how to use what you know with greater discernment, confidence, and care.

If you're a coach or consultant looking to deepen your assessment-based work, I'd welcome a conversation about the LIG Mentorship Academy.

Over the past several weeks, we've reflected on what we practice. Where we place our attention... the questions we ask... the conversations we avoid... the trust we build... the stories we tell ourselves. And the legacy we're creating every single day.

Every reflection has quietly been leading to one question. Not because there's a right answer. But because it's a question worth living.

𝙄𝙨 𝙞𝙩 𝙛𝙪𝙣 𝘽𝙀𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙔𝙊𝙐?

Not because life is always easy. Not because every day goes according to plan. But because you're becoming someone you genuinely enjoy being. Someone whose thoughts, words, actions, and relationships are increasingly aligned with the life you want to live.

One of the easiest ways for a leader to weaken a team?
Always having the answer.

It feels helpful. It feels efficient. And in the moment, it usually is.

But when leaders continually solve every problem, make every decision, and provide every answer, they can unintentionally teach people to depend on them rather than think for themselves.

Strong leaders do something different. They ask questions. They create psychological safety. They help people work through problems, evaluate options, and develop confidence in their own judgment.

Every interaction presents a choice: increase dependency or develop capability.
This week's article explores why a leader's real work isn't having all the answers. It's developing people who can think.

We're live TODAY at 12pm MT—and we're talking about something many of us know all too well: 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙫𝙖𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙞𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙣𝙚?

The emails are waiting.
The projects are waiting.
The responsibilities are waiting.

And suddenly, everything feels urgent. But it isn't.

Today on the "Is It Fun Being You?" radio show, we'll talk about how to re-enter the race without immediately returning to the very pace you needed a break from in the first place.

We'll explore how to:
• Get clear about what actually matters now
• Separate true priorities from noise
• Protect your mental bandwidth
• Reconnect and realign with the people around you
• Return to purpose before performance
• Carry some of the calm of vacation back into everyday life

Because you don't stay sane by running harder.
You stay sane by returning with greater clarity and intention.

A few weeks ago, I shared something that became very real for me this summer: 𝙎𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙙𝙤 𝙞𝙨 𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙥 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙮.

I believe that even more after taking several weeks to do exactly that. But eventually, we have to come back. And I've been reminded that returning with intention can be just as important as leaving with intention.

There's a temptation after time away to come back running—to catch up, respond to everything, tackle the list, and somehow make up for the time we were gone.

But that time wasn't lost. It was invested.

Tomorrow on the "Is It Fun Being You?" radio show, we'll talk about how to re-enter the race without immediately abandoning the clarity, perspective, and presence we found while we were away.

How do we determine what actually matters? How do we protect our mental bandwidth when everything suddenly feels urgent? And perhaps most importantly, how do we carry some of the calm we found on vacation back into everyday life?

Maybe we don't need to come back running harder.
Maybe we need to come back running differently.

Join Ramona and me tomorrow at 12 PM MT on KAFM 88.1 & 96.9—or stream live from anywhere at KAFMradio.org.

Summer has a way of slowing us down just enough to notice what we've been missing.

A sunrise instead of an alarm.
A conversation without watching the clock.
A walk without a destination.
An evening around a campfire.
The laughter of children.
The quiet of creation.

Sometimes the things we spend all year chasing become a little less important when we remember what fills us instead.

As summer begins giving way to a new season, I hope you've found moments to reconnect—with the people you love, with creation, and perhaps even with yourself.

Those moments aren't a break from life.
They're often the moments that remind us how to live it.
