My name is Stacey Brennan-Melvin and I believe fitness should be functional and fun. It should be part of a lifestyle that flows into the joy and freedom of being able move and experience everyday life with good physical and mental health. I am the mother of 4 wonderful, most of the time, children (4 boys and 1 girl). I love to read, cook, travel, practice Kundalini yoga, meet people, and spend time with loved ones. I have a BA in History from SUNY Fredonia, an AAS in Travel and Tourism from SUNY Adirondack, and an AA in Liberal Arts from SUNY Adirondack, a certificate from the American Red Cross in Adult/Child CPR/AED and First Aid, and ACE Certification for Personal Trainer. I have volunteered for local chapters of the Boy Scouts of America, La Leche League USA and the New York State Archives. I am the membership/office manager and an instructor at Glens Falls Karate Academy. I work as a substitute aide for South Glens Falls Schools. I am also very proud to represent and work for one of the best and longest established gyms in our area—the Adirondack Nautilus! I also train at the Glends Falls Karate Academy! To tell you the truth the fitness lifestyle has not always been my focus! I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. As a young adult, I would “diet” and lose weight but gain it back when I decided I was bored with just eating tuna and lettuce. I would plan to exercise but when it came time to go to the gym or class I would make an excuse to skip it and go next time. Fast forward to my 30’s when I started to have children—I wanted to exercise but didn’t have a lot of extra time!! Workouts at home, when I could fit them into my busy life, became my lifeline…so did my internet friends who inspired me to keep on working out with them. That is one of the keys to success—I realized sometimes I needed just a little help from a friend that I can’t always just do it all on my own. I also found out that CONSISTANCY is also one of the keys of success! When I work out three days a week—any of the 7 days—I am motivated to keep up the habit. Don’t be afraid to try new things-everyone starts as a beginner. If you have started and don’t see results—ask questions! You are in control of your body and mind. Set your goals and work hard to reach them. Celebrate yourself each day! You are wonderful and deserve a healthy and happy body! Best Wishes,
Stacey
