When you hear 6-foot-2 Jalen Brunson saying “You have to think about the best player possible guarding you when you are working out” you know what he’s talking about…

He’s talking about how he envisioned Victor Wembanyama guarding him — likely in most possible scenarios — and how he’d counter him with well timed pull ups, smart drives, exquisite body control and physicality, intricate footwork and deft touch from all three levels

He learned how to attack Wemby during his first meeting against him on Christmas Day in 2023 at The Garden

And built upon what he learned the next three seasons before taking advantage of his findings on the brightest stage possible en route to leading the Knicks to the 2026 NBA Championship with an all-time Finals MVP performance

Great example of Steph Curry creating an opportunity for himself by setting a screen then flowing off of that action into the open space in the left corner against the Jazz during opening week last year

Curry knows setting a screen forces the defense to react, which gives him the chance to relocate into space, catch, set his feet, get his eyes up on the target and let it fly

Dirk Nowitzki is one of the best shooters to ever touch a basketball. His understanding of shooting mechanics is about as high-level as it gets, so thank you to for sharing this segment featuring Dirk’s detailed advice for OG Anunoby this past offseason with the basketball community

“The pointer and the middle finger were the last two to touch the ball. That way you almost build like train tracks and the ball should always go straight. You should never miss left or right. If you shoot over one finger the ball can go left or right… Good shooters should only miss short or long not left and right…”

By the looks of things during the playoffs — and especially tonight — OG appears to have taken the advice to heart. He’s made a scorching 56.7% 3PT% (17/30) in 4.5 playoff games during the best stretch of his career so far
