We continue to move forward with our "soft opening"!
Our VRBO is live and we've had some long term stays. The big surprise is the hostel! We are on the AirBnB platform and have barely had any days with zero guests!
In fact, from last Tuesday all the way to next Friday, we will at least have one guest a day! Whoa!
I've opened up most of the upstairs of the Mechantile and it has been well.received especially by my neighbors who have been curious to see the inside of the building. I'll continue to make it available. If you see the OPEN flag c'mon in for a visit!
The resale end of things is going well & I'm learning as I go. In the garage I'm focusing on outdoor gear like used high quality (Merrell, Keen,etc.) hiking shoes, Hydro Flask water bottles, and warm clothing like North Face pullover fleece. I also have a bunch of furniture to sell like twin beds.
Upstairs is kind of a mix right now. Books (US history, Michigan History, Natural History, Michigan Authors & field guides), eclectic tshirts.
I have one room dedicated to Germfask History & the kitchen is decked out like a general store / homestead kitchen.
I had some neighbors ask if they could rent some space & have a booth to sell their stuff. I'm definitely interested in considering doing that! Imagine, a small vintage resale shop in Germfask!
I have more stuff coming! I have a shipping container coming from my stint overseas with even more books and middle east merch.
I also am buying out the inventory of a small publisher who is retiring. He specializes in Michigan Field Guides and Michigan hiking maps.
