Did you know no two Paint Horses or Appaloosas look exactly alike? 🎨🐴

As we get ready for our after-dark storytelling event under the prison pavilion, we wanted to share a few secrets about our incredible herd that might surprise you. When you join us in the dark, our horses will be standing right in the center stage.
Here are a few Breed Did you know?

The “Human Eyes” of the Appaloosa: Did you know Appaloosas have white sclera (the white part surrounding the iris) just like humans? In other horse breeds, you only see the white if they roll their eyes back in fear. But Appaloosas have this naturally—giving them a strikingly deep, expressive, and knowing gaze that looks right into your soul.

Bred for Battle and Survival: Appaloosas were meticulously bred by the Nez Perce tribe for endurance, agility, and a highly responsive nervous system. They are built-in radars. Because they read micro-shifts in muscle tension and heartbeats, they act as a natural radar for any 211-year energy shifting in the dark.

The Magic Legend of the Paint Horse: Native American Tribes—especially the Comanche—revered the American Paint Horse, believing their bold patches of color possessed magical powers to protect riders in battle. Cowboys later favored them because their striking coat patterns made them easily recognizable across the vast frontier.

The Brain-to-Heart Ratio: A horse's actual thinking brain is only about the size of a walnut! They don't waste energy overthinking, mismanaging things, or holding onto paranoia humans do. Instead, they operate completely from their massive 9-pound hearts and steady, people-oriented instincts.
How we use this for your healing:At our "Take It In Stride" program, we don’t force rigid, complicated training. Our horses don’t care about your problems or your mistakes they just want you to engage be present.
