Non race weekend picture dump! With the loss of Pittrace the worst part is not seeing friends you would normally see on an almost weekly basis. However this summer I've been lucky enough to still see many of them at either autocross or tracks abroad. Huge thanks to for hosting a Fast & Furious house party on Saturday. Not a bad mix of cars for a house meet! Sunday .pgh member Dave Lang had a small cookout, and I finally got to wheel his Honda Z600 around a little bit (even if it was only in his yard). And no I didn't buy it sorry to disappoint everyone it's still very much Dave's, but it's an awesome little bu**er!

Time to get the S2000 ready for the only local TT this weekend at Nelson Ledges 🀘

Was extremely happy to see Michael Berchak (BerchakMedia) back in action at Mid-Ohio after missing him last year due to his treatments. As our long time photo guy at Pittrace Track Night events it was good to see him all over the track grabbing shots again!

\\\Ohio Valley Region TT @ Mid-Ohio///

Literally took almost no pictures, but I sure as hell got video of me chasing a pack of Spec Miatas before running a new PB around the track.

So haven't turned a wheel on MidO in two years. In that time they repaved the track which would normally be a good thing. However the S2000 rolled off the trailer wearing brand new RE71RZ's that have not even turned more than a few feet. Doing the opening parade laps on a wet track with tires covered in mold release meant the S2K was actively trying to go lawn mowing with barely any speed. Decided to sit out the first session since the weather was only supposed to improve and judging by most of the OPTT paddock doing the same it was a good call. Following sessions I worked on trying to remember the finer parts of the course while working the tires & new brake rotors in. Car was good all day aside from slipping a alignment bolt once, but I never really felt like I did great. My usual yard sticks of Brian & Bob were full seconds ahead of me. Not sure if the tires needed more time cycle or if it was just me not getting the lines right (leaning towards the latter). Still since it was my first time back to Mid-Ohio in Tuner trim the car was faster regardless so I'll take that as a small win.

Massive thanks to Jay Gyger for taking a vacation day and hauling the S2K out for me! Also was great to see many of the OPTT folks keeping the spirit alive and driving fast as hell all weekend. Shout-out to Jason Anderson for winning the whole thing!

Some fantastic shots from the Time Attack Challenge at Pocono Raceway courtesy of PTorbikphotography who knocked it out of the park with some of these shots!

Next up is Mid-Ohio this Friday. Which will also probably be in the rain πŸ˜‘

Video of both courses from the weekend. As well as me dealing with a flat tire at the end.

With the death of Pittrace a bunch more locals showed up at the next closest national event which this year was Pocono Raceway. Trip had an interesting start when the tow vehicle I rented for the weekend decided to lock itself while it was running in my driveway (thank God OnStar was able to unlock it in short order). This was the first new track I've been on in quite some time so I wasn't expecting to set the world on fire, but figured maybe if things went well I could squeeze off a podium finish. Saturday morning our opening laps were in a downpour so that made for an interesting first session, but the car behaved great and it steadily dried throughout the day where I ended Saturday sitting in 3rd in class.

However Sunday would be different. Biggest change was they announced they were changing which track layout we were running as we would be running the more technical "North South option 3" and while it was a fun layout I just didn't feel like I got it with only 3 sessions. While we were doing the opening parade laps to see the course there was a heavy thumping coming from the car. Here overnight one of the brake rotors cracked as it cooled down (happened behind the brake pads so never saw it when I looked the car over). Thankfully I had a spare and swapped it in record time for my first session. At the end of my second session the right rear tire suffered a serious puncture that couldn't be plugged. Huge thanks to Bob Korn who lent me his spare RX-8 wheels so I could at least finish out all my sessions. Got bumped off the podium, but aside from the rotor & tire the car ran flawlessly all weekend and went flag to flag every session so I'm happy it's back to full health.

Was also great seeing so many of my OPTT family again after the program got thrown into chaos this year. I have to catch up on posting some other stuff, but enjoy the few pictures from the weekend!

It's been a bit of a rough year so far. No local track. The S2000 presented itself with some extra maintenance issues while trying to do the oil cooler & gauge install. And as usual my sanity was tested heavily in the process. Then on a whim I decided to button up the whole car in a day and take it to Nelson Ledges the following day with Matt Haskins for a Wonderful Wednesday track event. First time on track all year.

Drove there and back. Ran flawlessly. Set a new personal best well below last year. Got to share the track with a Mustang GTD. Got to watch a ZR1X absolutely haul the mail on course. And got to catch up with a few OPTT people and a lot of old Track Night friends. All & all a good day!

Can't say I'm going to miss 2025. It started out hopeful with a full local TT schedule and Time Trial Nationals making a stop at my home track.

Reality was me missing nationals because the car wasn't ready. Then finding out just over a week later that Pittrace was closing forever at the end of the year. Spent the whole month of October hitting every event I cared about. Watched the sun set over the VDA one final time with . Managed to get the S2000 sort of straightened out and watched it run a string of PB's in a row between Pittrace & . Closed out one of the best track night programs in the country. And got to finish it all in style with a lapping day on the original Beaverun North Course at Pittrace. The ending definitely sucked, but again I got to spend it all with the best damn people. πŸ₯‚

Clockwise from the top left: The S2000's ten final minutes on track at Pittrace. seeing us off at track night with one final toast. Lucky chilling in the at TT Nats. The peanut gallery announcing table with Yoder & Randy at the last STC event.

All good things...

I celebrated the end with STC Solo. Was there for the last two track nights as both a participant & worker. But this was my last trip to Pittrace. Not just any lapping day, but a return to the original North Course configuration from the early Beaverun days of the track. If you've never seen the original turn 2-3-4 combo it's a helva thing to drive. Felt like seeing an old friend again.

Absolutely massive thanks to Robert Korn for putting this together because without him a lot of people wouldn't have got their final laps in. I was helping as a volunteer and was able to get the S2000 to go to bat one more time. Never drove it on the old circuit and despite being it's 3rd event in a month it ran like it was on a mission. Gave several rides to good friends which was a first in that car. Locked horns on track with my long time friends (nemesis?) Brian in his E36 M3. Went out in the last 10 mins. Watched as the sun set over the hills and raced into the dusk. Set a personal best. And took the checkered one last time. Absolute bliss. Did some parade laps and took the forbidden MotoAmerica chicane lol. Hung out with the Ohio boys from Atomic Motorsports for a bit. Said my goodbyes to some of the workers. And found out the S2K will do donuts if it's angry enough lol. If it ends this way my Pittrace experience ends then it ends on a high note.

This whole track closing situation has been the absolute worst, but I got to spend it all with the best damn people. People I never would have met if it wasn't for this place and I will always be grateful for that. Catch everyone somewhere in 2026 πŸ€™
