🎉 And... this week's Island Famous Runner is
RACHEL MATHERS!
Rachel is the definition of dedication and determination. Whether she's running, working, or supporting those around her, she gives her all. She's not only an incredible runner but also an exceptional person.

Rachel is a Level IV NICU Transport Nurse at the UTMB Trauma Center, where she cares for some of the most vulnerable patients and their families. Her compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment make a lasting impact every day. She recently received the DAISY Team Award, recognizing nurses who go above and beyond in delivering outstanding patient care—a well-deserved honor. The Island Thanks you for all YOU DO!

Outside of work, Rachel is an animal lover who enjoys traveling and, of course, running! A dedicated marathoner, she loves the challenge of longer distances and regularly competes in local races as well as out of town. If you've seen her at a race or out on the Seawall, you've probably noticed her contagious smile and positive energy.

Congratulations, Rachel, from Galveston Island Running and the entire running community! We are proud to recognize you as this week's Island Famous Runner. Thank you for inspiring us both on and off the course—you've truly earned this recognition!
