BIG NEWS for Root Youth Basketball! 🏀
For 6 years, The Root has been home to our youth basketball league, and we’re so grateful to every player, parent, and coach who’s been part of it. This year, we’re taking it to the next level.
We’re joining forces with the Scioto/Lawrence league to create the biggest youth basketball league in southern Ohio — over 300 school teams, grades K-6!
Here’s what that means:
🏫 The league is school teams only (OHSAA standards)
🏟️ The Root will be one of several host sites for league games, along with other schools and facilities across the region
📋 All team registration and scheduling will be handled by the LAWSCO league coordinators
Gallia County families, you’ve got options! 📍
School teams from Gallia County can enter the new Scioto/Lawrence league, OR there will be an additional rec league option hosted through the Gallipolis City Recreation Department, with games played at local schools. Either way, there’s a place for your kids to play this season.
More teams, more competition, more basketball. Full details coming soon, so stay tuned!
And don’t worry, our tournaments aren’t going anywhere! 🏆
The Root will still be hosting our annual Pre-Season, Holiday, and School Team tournaments just like we always have.
