I’M CALLING BU****IT on “she just needs more confidence.”
No. She needs more EVIDENCE.
We keep telling young athletes to “believe in yourself” like confidence is some magical switch they’re supposed to flip when the game gets hard.
Confidence is BUILT.
You want to feel confident in the circle? Throw the extra bullpen. Hit your spots when you’re tired. Work on the pitch you keep avoiding. Finish the conditioning when you want to quit. Get your ass kicked in practice and come back the next day. Fail. Adjust. Repeat.
THAT is confidence.
It’s not your mom telling you you’re amazing. It’s not your coach hyping you up. It’s not somebody convincing you that you’re ready.
It’s YOU knowing you did the damn work.
Because when it’s bottom 7, bases loaded, two outs and s**t gets uncomfortable, you’re not searching for confidence.
You’re pulling from the receipts.
“I’ve been here.”
“I’ve done harder.”
“I’m freaking ready.”
Stop trying to GIVE young athletes confidence.
Put them in situations where they can EARN it.
Confidence isn’t a feeling. It’s evidence.
BUILD THE DAMN EVIDENCE. ⚡️
