To All Parents & Students:
If your child is interested in trying grappling with Doug Benavides but isn’t quite sure whether they’ll enjoy it, Doug is offering one free introductory class this Sunday, September 20th, from 2–4 PM.

This free session is available only to students who have not previously attended any grappling classes at the dojo. If your child would like to participate, please let Mr. Tarr know when you come to class.

We’re open all week during the Tomato Show — come early unless you enjoy the sport of “parking spot hunting.”
The public is welcome to stop in, walk through the front door, grab a seat on either side, and watch class. If you’d like to set up your free introductory lesson, just ask for Mr. Tarr.

For our current families (and anyone signing up): our back room is now a full workout space. Feel free to use all the equipment at NO EXTRA COST while your kid(s) train. Same rules as the dojo — no shoes, food, or drinks on the mats. Water bottles can hang out on the back-room table.

We’re excited to meet new people and show how karate keeps you fit and teaches you to protect yourself.

We will be open on Labor Day, Monday, September 7th, for regular classes.

Reminder:
The 49th Annual Fredericktown Tomato Show runs Wednesday, September 9th through Saturday, September 12th, 2026. Parking will be limited, so please plan to arrive a little earlier than usual.

We will hold an Open House / Team Practice on:

Friday, September 11th from 4:30–8:00 PM

Saturday, September 12th from 12:00–4:00 PM
Feel free to bring a friend on either day — or both!

Here are the new grappling dates for September and October. Please read the entire newsletter carefully, as important updates have been made to help everything run more smoothly and efficiently including sign-up sheets for each session.

Please Note: Grappling is not part of our regular curriculum. It is an additional activity with a separate fee per session, so please keep this in mind when signing up. All payments must be made in cash prior to the grappling session(s), ensuring the instructor receives payment directly for his time and travel.

This is open to the public for anyone interested in trying grappling or building on their current grappling skills.

Back‑to‑School Special:
If your child struggles with social skills, confidence, coordination, or choosing the right sport, let us take some of that stress off your plate. We have an open house this Saturday (August 22nd) from Noon-1:30pm. Come in and try 1 FREE class.

Karate provides a full‑body workout and allows students to train at their own pace, making it ideal for all fitness levels. Beginning at a white belt, students' progress through each rank as they build skills and discipline.

Respect and courtesy are core values in our dojo—habits that carry far beyond the mat.
