Hi, I'm Jennifer Smith and I'm here to let you know that yes, YOU can practice Yoga too and find all of the amazing benefits that you're hearing about in all the magazines and talk shows. Yoga is not a weird cult, it's not about turning yourself into a pretzel, and it's not about having a cute butt. Yoga is a practice- a practice of going inward, taking some deep breaths and giving yourself some p
eace. I have been practicing yoga for over 42 years and have been teaching for over 12. I am a 500 hour certified Yoga Acharya, or Master Yoga Instructor along with a certified YIn/restorative Yoga instructor and certified in Trauma informed Yoga. I've worked with cancer patients, chiropractic patients, people dealing with anxiety and stress, In all of my classes I make sure that you are safe and comfortable. I now teach in Frederick, Maryland at The Center: https://www.thecenterfrederick.com/yoga-pilates and also offer private classes online and in person. In all of my classes I make sure that you are always safe and comfortable. I teach Hatha Yoga, which places emphasis on breathing practices, asana (postures), controlled movement (with modification so everyone can do it), and meditation. I also have developed my own unique way of teaching Yin/restorative Yoga which include guided meditations, wisdom teachings targeted to heal trauma, and I've incorporated my music background by chanting, singing and playing my silver flute in my classes. Like everyone, I have gone through difficult times in my life, and yoga is the one practice that has helped me to keep it together and stay really healthy in my mind, body and spirit. I've managed to completely stop anti-depressants, cholestoral medication, or any other drugs that many people come to accept as normal as they get older. I am in my late 50's and I feel better than ever! I believe that the practice of Yoga, which means union, is for everyone, no matter what physical condition you're in. Through gentle, clear instruction, I make Yoga accessible to all people. Yoga should be a lifestyle, not a once in a while thing. If you begin a steady and dedicated practice, you will find my classes transformational, not to mention, fun!!!
