Today is Flag Day.

For me, this day isn’t about politics, party affiliation, or proving a point. It’s a day to pause and reflect.

The American flag has flown through some of our nation’s greatest triumphs and darkest chapters. It has witnessed a people striving to live up to ideals that were often easier to write than to achieve. It has stood through war and peace, prosperity and hardship, division and unity.

Under this flag, slavery was abolished. Women’s rights expanded. Civil rights advanced. Generations of immigrants found opportunity. Medical breakthroughs, technological innovations, and acts of courage changed not only our nation, but the world.

The flag itself is not a symbol of perfection. It is a symbol of a continuing journey, a reminder that freedom, equality, and justice require each generation to do its part.

Gratitude for those who sacrificed. Appreciation for the progress that has been made. Humility about the work that remains.

No nation is perfect. But the willingness to acknowledge our shortcomings, learn from them, and continue striving for something better is part of what makes America unique.

On this Flag Day, I’m thankful for the freedoms we enjoy, the people who came before us, and the responsibility we have to leave our communities and our country better than we found them.

The stars and stripes tell a story still being written. May we continue to write the greatest story ever told.

Beat the heat stop in 2A and chill.

For 250 years, America has been a story of perseverance, innovation, sacrifice, freedom, opportunity and the forefather of modern civil rights. Yeah, some mistakes were made so don’t trigger yourself. This isn’t meant to be a debate post.

Maybe the greatest gift we can give ourselves is to simply turn off the TV, turn down the noise, and spend time with the people around us.

Step away from the headlines and skewed narratives. Gather around a campfire, a backyard grill, or make some music on a front porch.

Because long before social media and political sh^t shows, America was built by neighbors helping neighbors, families working together, communities supporting one another, and people believing in a future bigger than themselves.

No matter our differences, we share the same roads, the same “coffee shops”, the same hopes for our children, and the same gratitude for those who came before us.

This 250th anniversary, let’s celebrate not what divides us, but what unites us. Let’s focus on each other, our communities, and the countless blessings we’ve enjoyed over the last two and a half centuries. Let us bask in the warm glow of freedom.
