This weekend didn't go how I wanted but it is what it is. I did get that hole shot $$ though as well as placing third overall. when your second moto starts like this.... I worked to come back from the very back, overall I ended up 3rd for the day. My head mechanic, (ha, dad) will be working to determine what caused the bike to die and we will be back next month!

A few months ago, after I threw a connecting rod through the case on my LTR, Dad found another one for sale down near The Woodlands. We went to pick it up, and somewhere in the conversation with the family selling it, we found out something pretty cool.

The bike had originally belonged to Steve’s dad, Pops. He bought it new in 2008 & babied it and kept it in prestine condition.

The more we’ve gotten to know Steve and hear stories about Pops, the more special that LTR has become.

Pops was born and raised in Detroit before moving to Southern California and going to work in the steel industry at 17. He worked his way up, raised a family, coached peewee football, and was the kind of neighborhood dad whose garage was always open to kids who wanted to learn or needed a little help.

And the man loved to ride. He rode Harleys for years, and even after losing a leg, he wasn’t done. He bought a Can-Am Maverick so he could keep ripping through the sand dunes. 🤘

We never got the chance to meet Pops, but somehow a piece of his story made its way from California all the way to Louisiana and into our race trailer.

We’ve stayed in touch with Steve and his family, and knowing the history behind this bike makes rolling it onto the track mean a little more. I'm pretty sure Pops would be the kinda guy my dad would spend hours sitting in the shop, talking motors & drinking beer with!

I think it’s safe to say Pops was one heck of a guy.
We’ll be proud to carry a little piece of his story with us every time that LTR hits the track. ❤️
