REMINDERS FOR EVALS THIS WEEK:
- Registration is still open!! Please sign up asap and share with your teammate who may have forgotten.
- Please arrive 10-15 minutes early and sign in at the registration desk. Each player will be given a numbered pinnie to wear during the evaluation process. Players need to stay in the hallway until they are called into the gym.
- What To Bring - Sneakers and comfortable basketball attire (gym shorts and t-shirts) and water.
- There will be a couple minutes to shoot around and warm up so players can bring a ball if they would like. We will also have basketballs available for those who do not have one.
************************************************
Evaluation Format - The evaluation will be broken into a drills/skills portion and a scrimmage portion. Players will be evaluated on fundamental basketball concepts (dribbling, passing, defensive position, shooting … etc) and also their ability in the game situations.
Roster Approach by Grade - For grades 5-8, the rosters will be leveled based upon talent and skill-level (i.e., an "A" team, "B" team, etc).
In grades 3-4, the rosters will be balanced to create 2-3 equally talented teams.
Note: there are NO evaluations for 3rd graders. The 3rd grade teams will practice together for the first few weeks of the season and the rosters will be decided upon by the coaches.
Roster Sizes and "Cuts"- Because Medway has minimum playing-time requirements, it also requires us to cap the number of players on each roster.
A-team Roster Size = maximum of 10 players
B-team Roster Size = maximum of 11 players
These roster limits mean that we are not always able to assign each registered player to a team. We work very hard to find a spot for everyone but it doesn’t always work out simply due to the number of players that registered. Any player who is not assigned to a roster will be refunded their registration fee.
If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to one of the MABA board members.
See you this week!! 🏀🔥
