Global icon and humanitarian, Dolly Parton, known to the world as a beloved singer, songwriter, philanthropist, actress, playwright, and author died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 years old.

Dolly is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years Carl Thomas Dean (1942 – 2025), her mother Avie Lee Caroline Owens (1923 – 2003), and father, Robert Lee Parton, Sr. (1921 – 2000).

Police say 23-year-old Ofa’tangikivaha Angilau became belligerent after a clerk refused to sell him alcohol without identification.

Another customer intervened and helped remove him from the store.

But Angilau returned carrying a shotgun.

The armed citizen immediately opened fire, striking Angilau before he could discharge the weapon or hurt anyone inside.

Angilau did not survive. The armed citizen remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

A dangerous man entered a crowded business carrying a shotgun. Thankfully, a law-abiding citizen was prepared to stop him. When a threat appears without warning, an armed citizen may be the only person standing between innocent people and tragedy.

Yesterday, I spent time helping two brand-new female gun owners get their handguns set up the right way.

Not because anything was "wrong" with them...Because most women are never taught these things.

✨ We changed the grips, so the gun actually fit their hands.
A firearm that fits properly is easier to control, easier to shoot accurately, and ultimately safer.

✨ We replaced the trigger spring on their SIG P365 macros.

✨ We zeroed their optics.
An optic isn't "ready to go" just because it's mounted. Every optic needs to be properly zeroed so when you need it to be accurate... it is. Holosun

This is something I wish more women knew...Buying the firearm is only the beginning.

I had MULTIPLE sets of moms and daughters in my Beginner Handgun class yesterday. 🥹🥹🥹

Yesterday filled my heart in a way that’s hard to put into words. 🥹❤️🫶🏼

There is something incredibly special about teaching mothers and daughters together.

Watching moms intentionally invest in their daughters—not just by teaching them how to defend themselves, but by showing them they are worth protecting—is something I’ll never take for granted. And watching those daughters grow in confidence over just a few short hours is why I do what I do.

Self-defense isn’t about living in fear. It’s about living with confidence. It’s about knowing you have options. It’s about learning to trust yourself.

Yesterday wasn’t just about just learning to be safe & shoot well. It was about conversations, laughter, encouragement, and sometimes even working through emotions together. Every woman and every girl came with her own story, and each one deserved to be seen, supported, and empowered.

To every mom who chose to spend part of her weekend investing in her daughter…thank you. You are teaching her something far greater than self-defense. You’re teaching her that her safety matters, her voice matters, and she is worthy of taking up space in this world.

And to every daughter who stepped onto that range - you were brave, you worked hard, and I hope you left knowing you are stronger than you realized.
