Next Phase of Panther Island Flood Control Project to take effect.

The Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) is seeking construction contractors for the next phase of Panther Island, which will feature new canals and a three-acre public park. Interested parties must submit their bids by 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17.

From May to July 2026, at least three alligators have been shot at the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge on Lake Worth. One of the alligators survived, the other two were killed and their carcasses were abandoned and left to waste. At least one of the alligators was shot with a crossbow bolt.
