We believe the race track can be a place where faith and community thrive together.

“Fathers, don’t stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭4‬ ‭

While I am frequently reminded that our kids are racing—meaning they are going to make mistakes. But at the same time, I am always amazed at what they can do on track.

There are times when bad decisions lead to lost opportunities and more money spent. But those emotions can cause us to forget the influence we have on our kids. Win or lose, wreck or not, our kids are looking to us for cues on how to react.

Our job, as parents, is to train them up, instruct them, and teach them how to follow Jesus. They are learning from our example how we handle frustration, disappointment, success, and failure.

The legacy you are looking to build doesn’t happen in a day; it’s built one moment at a time. Be intentional and set the example in Christ for our kids to follow.

“Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”” Joshua‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬ ‭

I don’t know about you, but every time Eli hits the track, there is a wave of nervous energy running through my veins. And it’s laced with fear. Fear of the unknown. Fear that he might wreck. Fear that the setup is wrong. And the list goes on.

I try to hide it by standing stoic, emulating confidence the best I can. Not because I am faking it but because I am desperately trying to remember the one command most often repeated in the Bible. “Do not be afraid.”

When fear tries to take over our mind, the answer should be faith. Faith reminds us that God is with us, goes before us, and is watching behind us. Faith is choosing God’s sovereignty over our circumstances.

So today, remember that fear only seeks to destroy our joy in life. Faith multiplies it.

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying: Who should I send? Who will go for Us? I said: Here I am. Send me.” Isaiah‬ ‭6‬:‭8‬ ‭

I’ve never done it, but I can only imagine the thrill of taking the checkered flag. Knowing that you just beat every other driver on track. In that moment, you were the best.

Honestly, I’m often a little jealous of Eli when he wins. Sure I’m happy, but I can’t be as thrilled as he is. But in life we are in a different kind of race with a different kind of mission. We are people sent into the world to impact the world through grace and love, so people can see just how good God really is.

Yes, it’s a different kind of race and with it is an entirely different kind of victory. The checkered flag is a sure thing, and just like standing in the pits enjoying our kids’ victories, we stand in awe at the victory that is His. Let’s be reminded today of the race that truly matters and the only checkered flag that truly counts.

“And if someone overpowers one person, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not easily broken.”
‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬

You might be in the car alone chasing the checkered flag. You might be in the garage late at night dialing in the setup.

When race day isn’t going as planned, you might even feel alone as you try to figure out how to get more speed. But when it comes to our lives, God did not intend for us to do it alone. We are set up for community. Our friends, family, coworkers, or church community—all those healthy relationships we have are placed in our lives to build in us a sort of divine strength.

Perseverance, all-out willpower, and the intestinal fortitude it takes to handle whatever life throws our way cannot be overcome on our own. We need each other to build us up, make us stronger, and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.

So who’s in your corner?❤️
