We just want to take a moment to say thank you to a couple of amazing coaches that have graced the mats of Intercept MMA. Both men will taking a leave of absence from the classes they taught and we will be missing them!

Dom has been such a pillar in the gym for not only the wrestling program, but also his contribution to the competition grappling competitors and the MMA competitors as well. Dom selflessly steps up and steps in whenever and wherever he was needed. We are truly thankful to have had him as our coach and wish him nothing but the best moving forward.

Sherwin graced the mats as our competition striking coach and made such an impact right away on the student base. His technique and his attention to detail for his students definitely elevated everyone to the next level. Sherwin was always ready and willing to help those around him and always put his students first. We truly hope to see him running classes again in the future after his upcoming adventure to Thailand!

Thank you to both Dom and Sherwin for all you do. Anna, Reagan, and I are extremely grateful.

What an amazing weekend in Iowa at the TBAs!
We had 4 competitors step into the ring for the first time this year and it was such an incredible experience!
Marilu put on an amazing performance and showed such growth in skill. Although the decision did not go her way we are so proud of the work she put in to prepare. We look forward to having her back again next week!
Tatsu came into this tournament with no competition experience at 67 years old and showed he was ready to fight! His opponent was 8 years younger with 13 fights (their match maker decided he should fight someone with 13 instead of 1 fight🧐) but that didn’t stop Tatsu from going in there and putting on a show!
Javier came in with no competition experience as well and was really eager to test himself and compete! His first fight he lost by split decision. His opponent was not able to fight in the championship round so Javier was able to compete for the championship but lost to a very tough opponent.
Astrid came in to the TBAs for her first time and made the absolute most of it. Astrid kept a very positive the entire week and took that positive energy into the championship match. She lost a decision but never quit or gave up on herself.
We are so extremely proud of these competitors and absolute warriors. They represented themselves and the gym with the upmost respect and class.
Thank you to coach Sherwin to preparing the fighters and getting them prepped and ready for battle the entire week! Thank you to coach Rick and coach Tyler for their help in the corners and supporting our fighters all week. Thank you to Anna and Reagan for all their help all week to support the fighters and help with corner work as well!
We truly can’t wait to be back again next year! Thank you to all of the friends and family that supported the fighters all week and to all of the students that helped in preparation.

⛈️ GYM CLOSED DUE TO WEATHER ⛈️
Please be advised that classes are canceled tonight due to severe weather (Thursday, June 11th). We hope everyone stays safe out there! Normal schedule resumes tomorrow if the weather permits!

This past Saturday we had our Wrestling coach Dom compete in a jiu jitsu super fight for Nitro Grappling.

Dom took the match on 3 weeks notice against a 2nd degree Black Belt who also had a 15 pound size advantage. Dom fearlessly took the match ready and eager to implement his game.

Doms match was an 8 minute co main event that went the full distance with Dom coming out with the decision. Dom was able to not only secure top position but control and neutralize his opponent stopping and stuffing all threats that came his way.

Dom was officially promoted to Brown Belt after the match showing just how far he’s come and how good his game is. We are so proud of Dom and can’t wait for his MMA debut.

Huge thanks to everyone that helped Dom in preparation for this match up and huge congrats as well to Doms longtime jiu jitsu coach Thor who has helped Dom prepare and has one of the coolest names.
