NWA Padres Triumphs Over NWA Astros In Late-Game Victory

NWA Padres defeated NWA Astros 5-3 on Sunday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at three in the top of the sixth when Martin Tabler singled, scoring two runs.

NWA Astros got on the board in the second inning after Kole Freeman singled, scoring two runs.

A single by Evan Curry extended the NWA Astros lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning.

NWA Padres jumped back into the lead in the top of the sixth inning after Jack Waggoner doubled to center field, and Martin Tabler singled to right field, each scoring two runs.

Chuck Stracener earned the win for NWA Padres. The right-handed pitcher surrendered four hits and one run over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Jon Nourie took the loss for NWA Astros. The hurler went three innings, allowing five runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out three and walking two. Jack Waggoner started on the bump for NWA Padres. The hurler allowed three hits and two runs over two innings, striking out one and walking one. Gavin Moore opened the game for NWA Astros. The pitcher gave up three hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out seven and walking none. Eric Hankins collected the save.

NWA Padres jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Jeremy Engelhardt singled, scoring one run, Chuck Stracener drew a walk, scoring one run, Marc DeWeese drew a walk, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.

NWA Astros flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 6-5. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Andrew Fakult that drove in two.

Gavin Moore earned the win for NWA Astros. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and five runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out 10 and walking five. Brian Beers took the loss for NWA Padres. The hurler went three and two-thirds innings, surrendering six runs on five hits, striking out six and walking six.

Victor Abiseid, Jeremy Engelhardt, Martin Tabler, Brandon Newberry, and Carter Wade each collected one hit for NWA Padres. Chuck Stracener, Jeremy Engelhardt, and Marc DeWeese each drove in one run for NWA Padres. NWA Padres were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Brandon Newberry made the most plays with 12.

Andrew Fakult and Kyle Henson were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for NWA Astros. Bryce Slavens led NWA Astros with two hits in three at bats. NWA Astros had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game.

The 23 game winning streak for the Northwest Arkansas Padres came to an end this past Sunday. After taking game 1 of the doubleheader 12-3 the Padres dropped the 2nd game to the Storm by a final of 9-5. The Padres will be back on the field Sunday the 28th at Veteran's Field 2. First Pitch of the doubleheader will be at 10:30 am. They will be facing off against the NWA Astros who are 3-3 on the season.

The games vs the Cardinals (2-2) have been cancelled due to inclement weather.

NWA Padres Defeat NWA Tigres On Multiple Hit Performance By Waggoner.

Jack Waggoner collected three hits in four at bats, as NWA Padres defeated NWA Tigres 13-3 on Sunday.

NWA Padres got on the board in the top of the first inning after J.T. Stalnaker doubled, scoring one run, Jack Waggoner singled, scoring one run, Brandon Newberry drew a walk, scoring one run, and Victor Abiseid doubled, scoring three runs.

A fly out by Jack Waggoner, and a walk by Jamie Means helped NWA Padres extend their early lead in the second.

Keaton Ford earned the win for NWA Padres. The righty gave up one hit and one run over three innings, striking out one and walking two. Kason Crowe took the loss for NWA Tigres. The righty went one-third of an inning, giving up six runs on three hits, striking out none and walking one. J.T. Stalnaker collected the save.

NWA Padres accumulated 13 hits in the game. Victor Abiseid and Jack Waggoner each drove in three runs for NWA Padres. Carter Wade collected two hits for NWA Padres in four at bats. Ryan McClurkin stole two bases. NWA Padres stole five bases in the game.
