We are incredibly thankful for the generous support from the foundations who believe in the future of 4-H Camp Palmer! This investment is helping us make exciting improvements to our zip line and create even more opportunities for campers and guests. We can’t wait to see this project come to life!

The Henry County Community Foundation recently awarded a $1,000 grant to 4-H Camp Palmer for their new Zip Line project. Camp Palmer serves Henry County 4-Hers and school groups and has positively impacted the lives of generations of Henry County residents for nearly 80 years. 4-H Camp Palmer in Fayette, Ohio, creates life-changing experiences that develop confident, capable, and caring young people through outdoor education, recreation, and experiential learning. Founded in 1946 and rooted in 4-H values, Camp Palmer serves youth and families throughout an 11-county region in northwest Ohio through summer camps, school programs, retreats, and outdoor adventure experiences.

One of those adventure-based programs is its zipline, annually drawing approximately 2,000 participants. Built in 1990 and inspected yearly, it needs modernization with a structurally engineered pole platform that aligns with industry standards.

The Bryan Area Foundation, Edon Area Foundation, Millcreek-West Unity Foundation, and Montpelier Area Foundation awarded a total of $36,500 in grants to support the efforts of this project, and pictured members at the check presentation, from left to right, are as follows: Millcreek-West Unity Foundation Secretary Abbie Smith, Bryan Area Foundation President/CEO Amy Miller, Edon Area Foundation Chair Jo Ann Luce, 4-H Camp Palmer Executive Director Haley Buckmaster, and Bryan Area Foundation Grant Committee Member Larry Harsila.
