I have not read a book this year that has hit as close to home for me as this one. It brought forth many personal emotions about my own path to self identity.

This 5 paw read by Laurie Frankel, Author is truly one of my favorites of the year.

While this story is focused on gender identity, it is just as much about parenting through that seemingly impossible to navigate path. The book explores how parents make decisions for their children, how those decisions can have unintended consequences, and how families learn and grow together.

I loved, laughed and cried with each one of these characters. Fantastic read.

It's your lucky day! Two reviews in one day.

This 5 paw read from Robert Dugoni is in my top reads of the year. This book had me in all my feels. It's not a short read so plan accordingly, but it is well worth it!

The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell follows Sam, a boy born with red eyes who faces bullying and struggles with identity, faith, and belonging. His friendships and journey toward self-acceptance are at the heart of the story.

Every living thing gets to have seasons except us...

If someone were to ask you to describe migration you could probably explain at a level that would show you have some understanding of the concept. Maybe not scientifically detailed, but a general understanding of it. Humming birds fly south, some geese head to wintering grounds, monarchs cross miles...

Nikki Erlicks second novel (The Measure was her debut novel) poses another moral conundrum and brilliantly.

If you have ever suffered debilitating grief and thought just sleeping through it would resolve that, this book will appeal to you. How far are we willing to go to heal grief? Can it even be healed?

While this only received 3 paws from me, it was strictly due to some redundancies in the stories and what I felt was a ho hum ending.

Having said that, I find her books to be remarkable and thought provoking!

3. The Great Wherever (struggled with who was narrating but cool premise/perspectives)
3. Prodigal Summer (very flora/fauna driven and made me want to pay attention to the world of nature)

I am not intentionally trying to only share my 5 paw reads, but this is one I have thought about often after reading it, which is usually why a book gets 5 paws to begin with.

What if one simple decision could change everything? Florence Knapp, in her debut novel, takes the choice of a baby's name and turns it into a fascinating exploration of fate, family, and the lives we might have lived.

This book made me think about all the tiny decisions that shape our lives. A fascinating "what if" story that explores how one choice can create entirely different paths.

I think it most resonated with me because it is one of the choices in our lives that we never get to actually make. We don't get to choose our own name.

Another 5 paw read for me. Mostly because it stayed with me long after I finished it and really caused me to question so very much.

Described as a story of hope, solidarity and the enduring strength of young women who find the courage to break free and seek redemption and justice. It's ultimately about the strength of women who refuse to be defined by what happened to them.
Kudos Susan Wiggs.

I am embarrassed to say that I have yet to do a review on here of one of his books, but that is because it's been a hot minute since I have had one in my paws, but I am a BIG BIG fan of Charles Martin.

I have not read them all but the ones I have, I have been deeply immersed in the storytelling. They are deeply emotional character driven stories that appeal to me greatly.

My top 3 reads of his (so far):
