The worked. This kids hands were trembling from excitement. Biggest fish for him to date. A fearless cormorant swam between shore and his fly and was almost a disaster. The bird had no fear of us. Kid landed over a dozen fish with countless that bit the fly. Little dude was transfixed on casting and watching the fish react to the fly.

I inherited Andrew Holt fishing tackle over the weekend. Loads of stuff I’ll never use. What you see here is a box of lures, soft plastics, and more that I’ll never use. I bartered the tackle plus Andrew’s flies and boxes to a neighborhood kid in exchange for mowing my lawn. I’d rather this kid have the gear and use it on his wild adventures (his fish camp was recently attacked by a porcupine). Plenty more gear for me to hold onto incase a client needs. I now have more conventional tackle than I’ve had since high school, a new 8wt, a few knives, and a gear bag to remember him and take him with me.

Shirtless wade fishing in late summer is as reminiscent of my childhood as it gets. A few hours spent with WV William Saturday afternoon. Flies tucked into my hat liner and lanyard around my neck. Bare essentials for wading. One smallie on a black bu**er. Then the view from ‘the cabin’ where we walked in. Traffic jam outside as a bunch of horseback riders headed uphill. A to round things out. I’m going to miss this kind of weekend in a few weeks. Still fishing my Hardy and averon reel 5wt.

Doesn’t look. Like much more than a ball floating. But no. Clients working on aim and distance for so I tossed a few river finds in the lake from the boat and let the wind blow them around and clients cast to them. Good fun. The sound of a bu**er bouncing off a basketball is expected.
