Nearly 31,000 post offices, a 1972 Postal Service regulation, and a federal statute carrying up to a year in prison. The Attorney General asked the Justice Department whether a licensed carrier who walks in to buy stamps is committing a crime, and the answer that came back is not the one the Department has been arguing in court.

Massachusetts is talking about requiring live-fire training for gun licensing.
Here is my position:
Live-fire training is a good thing. I believe in it, and we include it because students should get real hands-on experience with safe firearm handling.
But forcing every person to pass a shooting test just to get a license is not the answer.
We train people of all ages and experience levels — including seniors, first-time gun owners, and people who have never touched a firearm before. The goal should be safety, education, and confidence, not creating another barrier for responsible citizens.
Certified instructors should be trusted to decide what firearm, caliber, distance, and number of rounds are appropriate for each student. No one-size-fits-all test should be forced on every instructor or every student.
Training should build safe gun owners — not punish beginners for being beginners.
