At 18, I was on a different health trajectory. And it wasn't because I ate too much or moved too little. It was because I grew up on the ultra processed, low fat, zero sugar diet the food industry normalized in the 90s. Not my parents' fault. I believed it too, until about 10 years ago. That belief cost me years of binge eating, restriction, and chasing Weight Watchers points on the elliptical.
After having 2 kids in my 30s, I am in better shape than when I was at 18. Not because I found more willpower. Because I found the actual problem.
1️⃣reduce ultra processed food. Make more real food meals and when using packaged items, minimize the ingredients
2️⃣reduce seed oils
3️⃣eat more protein before noon
4️⃣have mostly clean sources of protein
5️⃣heal the gut
6️⃣support the hormones
7️⃣prioritize sleep
8️⃣dinner and done
9️⃣lift heavy weights
🔟move after meals, especially dinner
1️⃣1️⃣drink water
1️⃣2️⃣stress less
1️⃣3️⃣read books/listen to podcasts that keep reminding you that the road less traveled is the road you want to stay on
Talking the talk. Walking the walk.
Because I know what it feels good to be in an inflamed, overweight and tired body.
This is not a discipline story. It's a physiology story. I test for the difference. New patient virtual visits booking in September (Michigan only)

Imagine being a 40-something-year-old mom who has struggled with her weight for essentially her entire life. Diagnosed with PCOS 26 years ago, but like so many women with PCOS, she spent years being told to eat less, exercise more and lose weight.

Except you WERE trying. And when it didn't work, you left those appointments feeling defeated, alone, ashamed, and wondering what the heck was wrong with you. Why you just didn't have enough willpower. Why the weight kept coming on. Why this seemed like such a lonely struggle.

Now for the first time in 26 years, she is consistently losing weight. She's feeling the inflammation decrease in her body. She's learning that PCOS is SO much more than an o***y problem.

One of my favorite things about working with her is that she isn't stopping with herself. She's now fighting to understand the metabolic health of her children too.

Because here's something your Dr isn't talking about: a mom's PCOS and metabolic health during pregnancy can impact the metabolic health of her children. And unfortunately, this is not something any of us medical professionals learned about in school.

So when she asked for additional metabolic labs for her kids and was told "those labs" weren't recommended, she kept advocating. She got some of the labs for her kids. And guess what, they came back abnormal. She was told: have them eat healthier and exercise more.

This is where I know we have to do better. Not diets, counting calories, or strict exercise regimens. But getting strategic about metabolic health and all of the deeper layers that impact it.

And not gatekeeping labs from patients! And recognizing metabolic patterns in families and asking WHY. So we can help them improve their metabolic health sooner, and prevent the struggle in the coming decades. This is a conversation I absolutely LOVE helping families navigate.

This mom knows what it feels like to spend years looking for answers And thinking that she just lacked willpower. Now that she understands her own body differently, she's doing everything she can to give her kids the knowledge and tools she wishes someone would have given her decades ago.

That is how we start changing the trajectory of an entire family and the decades to follow.

I asked a handful of patients who have received one of my detailed written lab reviews a few questions about what that experience has actually given them.
Not what they thought of me — but whether understanding their labs, their symptoms, and the WHY behind their recommendations changed the way they approach their own health.
This response...this is exactly my goal and why i spend so much time on my write ups for patients. I don't want you blindly following a protocol because I told you to. I want you to learn. I want things to start connecting. I want you to understand why we're doing what we're doing, and eventually become the captain of your own health journey.
I want you to have an owner's manual for your body and be directing your health!
If you've been wanting this kind of deeper look at your health, new patients start with a New Patient Visit. From there, we decide what testing and level of review makes sense for you.

How do I review your labs?
✴️with a functional lens, not just the reference ranges.
✴️recognize patterns and point out what's optimal
✴️I don't just review your labs, I write your owner's manual for you

Most people receive lab results with a quick message: "Everything looks normal."
Then they're left wondering: Why am I still exhausted?
Why can't I lose weight? Why is my cycle a mess?

My goal isn't just to tell you what to take.
It's to teach you:
✔️ What each lab means
✔️ How your body systems connect
✔️ Why your symptoms are happening
✔️ What to do first
✔️ And how to take ownership of your health for years to come.

One patient recently shared:
"I couldn't imagine not knowing everything that I do now and continuing to make myself more unhealthy without even realizing it."

That's why I spend time creating personalized written lab reviews. The education creates confidence and allows you to continue to work on your health far beyond your appointment.

✨ Book a new patient appointment and together we'll create your personalized roadmap, your owner's manual to your body.

You don't have to settle for "your labs are normal."

If you've been told everything looks fine but you're still dealing with symptoms, I'd love to help you look deeper.

As a Physician Assistant specializing in functional medicine, I combine conventional medicine with a root-cause approach to understand why you're experiencing symptoms, not just how to cover them up.

My 5 yr old daughter is already watching how I talk about my body, food, movement, and strength.
I can't control every trend she'll see or every message the world sends.
But I can control the messages she hears at home.
I want exercise to mean strength. Food to mean nourishment. Rest to be normal. And her worth to have absolutely nothing to do with the number on a scale. But worthy because God made her.
If I can help shape that inner voice now, maybe it'll still be there years from now when the world tells her she's not enough.
That's the kind of health I'm trying to model.

I was taught osteoporosis in PA school the same way every docter was

✅ DEXA scan
✅ Osteoporosis ➡️ prescribe a bisphosphonate
✅Tell her to take calcium. Done.
That's it. That's the training.

They didn't teach gut, hormones, nutrients, bone stimulus, stress, avoiding long-term Omeprazole.

I watched the results of that standard osteoporosis treatment model for years and... the women still lost bone.

That was one of the many realizations that there had to be knowledge beyond conventional medical school curriculum.

I gradually learned functional medicine. I learned it for my patients and for myself. I now approach osteoporosis treatment, prevention and reversal with this multi-pronged approach.

Your bone health is like putting into your retirement account. Daily actions add up. Better bone health is something you will wish you had prioritized earlier. Start today.

I had the opportunity to speak with an incredible group of women at Chiropractic about OSTEOPOROSIS.

Real women, empowered to improve their bone density. Real women seeking information their Dr doesn't have. There were so many thoughtful questions and conversations.

The biggest takeaways I wanted everyone to leave with:
Bone health is about so much more than calcium. Bone health is living tissue that is influenced.
Advocate for yourself with a vitamin d level and DEXA before 65.

Healthy bones require:
✔️ Progressive strength training
✔️ Adequate protein (probably the most overlooked nutrition piece!)
✔️ Vitamin D, magnesium, vitamin K2, and other trace minerals
✔️ Nourishing your body consistently, not decades of chronic dieting or under-eating

We also talked about foods that naturally support bone health.

One topic that generated a lot of discussion was who should consider talking with their healthcare provider about getting a DEXA scan earlier than the routine screening age.

Risk factors can include:
• Family history of osteoporosis
• Early or surgical menopause
• Smoking history
• Long-term prednisone or other steroid use
• Long-term acid-blocking medications (like Prilosec or Nexium)
• History of eating disorders or chronic restrictive dieting
• Autoimmune disease or conditions that affect nutrient absorption
• Previous low-trauma fractures

Having one of these risk factors doesn't necessarily mean you'll develop osteoporosis, but having several together is worth discussing with your healthcare provider.

I really hammered home: Bone is built on a collagen protein framework. Strength training provides the stimulus, but your body still needs the raw materials to build and maintain strong bone.

Personally, one of the reasons I choose to work out at Leveredge is because they emphasize progressive resistance training in a supportive environment. As someone who spends a lot of time talking about prevention, I believe lifting weights is one of the best investments I can make in my own long-term health, not just for my bones, but for muscle, metabolism, balance, and healthy aging.

Thank you to Leveredge Chiropractic for inviting me to be part of the OSTEOPOROSIS workshop. It was a fun evening, and I hope everyone left feeling empowered with practical steps they can start using today.

My son had a plantar wart over a year ago which I helped him clear within 2 months and no reoccurrence, for pennies! My daughter developed a plantar wart which has not cleared on it's own. It has gotten bigger and is trying to spread. So I'm documenting exactly what I'm doing about it in real time. As I know many of you are interested.

Plantar warts are one of those things that seem minor but they're actually a pretty interesting window into immune function. The kids who can't clear them aren't unlucky nor is it bad hygiene. Their immune system just needs a little support.
