Vision Quest Sport Fishing Sport Fishing Adventures on lake Erie for Walleye, Steelhead, and Many other sport fish It is often how you handle those days that separate Captains.

Success in the late 80’s and 90’s was a box full of fish; I guess that was just my youth which created that attitude. Now, a successful day on the water for me and my clients is first being comfortable, safe and having a good experience. The experience and the time well spent can more that offset a tough day on the water because “there will be tough days”, no matter how good I am or any Captain is. However, the plan is still to go for that box full of fish and my motto “Leave No Fish Behind” is proof. Vision Quest is one of the most successful fishing operations in operation today.

This Weekend we fished the Fall Big Boys and the Saturday only King of the Oak event (weigh best 3).
It was a weekend of reversal.
Saturday we were in 1st place for the BB event and weigh biggest box of WE. Win the KOTL with just under 66 # and also take big fish honors. We went 13/16 on stagers with best box of 2026. Good start.. Sunday we gotta go back west and try to duplicate. It was a stiff NE wind am and steady 2-3s all morning with maybe couple bigger ones. We flat out struggled to land our bites. Going 3/11 on stagers inside. We were seeing some but they were lock jawed for us late AM. With few hours left and needing 3 more, I decided to run back east and set up on Fridays numbers offshore. We were fast into fish and took 12 bites but lost every two year old salmon we hooked!! Landed 5 incidental steelheads tho 🤣🤣🤣. End up losing like 9 of last 10 salmon bites on Sunday and tank on day 2. Finish 8th and let it slip away.
However we also knew the other top 3 boats fishing same water had tough bite also there and ended up running. Main difference was that we were 13/16 versus 3/13 Sunday. We concluded a good tournament season on Lake O and were co-champions of the West Cup with Team Thrillseeker. We ended up putting a pretty good beating on the fish “almost” all 4 days. Congratulations to fellow FishUSA pro staffer Rick n Yankee Troller on good day 2 and the win. Thursday fished our way down to Oak Orchard with my annual pre Big Boys Mcshane charter. Fishing was good Thursday. Friday we fished inside near port looking for stagers and then trolled out deeper to polish off our 5 man box. Fishing out of the Oak was very good but we didn’t get into a lot of big fish. We put together two great days!! Hmmmm tomorrow is day 1 of the annual Big Boys and the King of The Oak event. We are participating in both.

Great morning again on Lake O targeting stagers! Landed 10 good salmon, few smalls, 2 browns and a steelhead. Add in a few misses all just before 10am. A Tom Mik flies rocked the fish last 2 days with Spin Docs and paddles. Also tool a couple on DW cut plugs on an inside DW mag diver. Put one on the board for Captain Wes. 25 # even!!! That fish ate #41 green glow A Tom Mik fly-my all time fav. Fish still have alewives in them!
