Some chapters in life are impossible to close without pausing to reflect.
Last week, after calling 9th Street home since the early 2000s, Little Dance Studio officially moved into the next chapter of our dance journey and closed our 9th Street doors.
Those walls… those mirrors… and especially those dance floors were so much more than a place to dance. It was our home away from home.
Those floors watched our babies grow up before our very eyes. From tiny first steps in My Little Dancer & Me to confident young adults taking their final bow as Senior Performance Team members, they carried generations of dancers through every imaginable season of life.
The LDS lobby…oh the stories and laughter those walls could share ! Such an amazing community.
Those floors held our laughter, our victories and yes… our tears when words simply weren’t enough. They absorbed the weight of hard days and the bad days and somehow transformed them through the magic of movement and “dancing it out”.
Time and time again, dancers walked in carrying the burdens of the world and danced out just a ‘Little’ lighter. Dance is the best medicine for the body, mind and soul.
If those floors could talk… oh the stories they would tell!
They would tell of little feet finding confidence for the very first time.
They would tell of friendships that became family.
They would tell of dreams that once seemed impossible becoming reality.
They would tell of music blasting through the lobby, of creativity that blossomed into unforgettable choreography and memories, and of productions that came to life through thousands upon thousands of hours of passion, dedication, and love of dance.
For more than two decades at 9th Street (and as part of a dance legacy that now spans 101 seasons) those floors became woven into the hearts of our Little Dance fam.
Leaving them wasn’t easy.
But every great story has another chapter.
While our new home on East 38th Street is still under construction, we already know it will become a place where new dreams will take flight.
Soon, new little dancers will take their very first steps.
New friendships will be formed.
New choreography will be imagined.
New tears will fall, new triumphs will be celebrated, and new generations will discover the same healing, confidence and belonging that dance has always provided.
Our address has changed, but our heart and our ‘Little’ community have not.
Thank you, 9th Street, for holding more memories than words could ever express.
Now, here’s to the next 101 seasons…
1509 East 38th Street, we can’t wait to meet you!
