I was honored to share the story of Kominka with Koji san and Andrea —the beauty of these traditional Japanese homes, the craftsmanship behind them, and why preserving them means preserving a way of life.

What a wonderful time in Portland for the Kominka presentation tour! 🌿

I had the honor of reading the Japanese translation of A Proclamation for Peace right after , former Oregon Poet Laureate and the poem’s author, read it in English.

It felt like a beautiful moment of connection—between languages, cultures, people, and the wisdom of Kominka. And friendship is spreading, too. ❤️

I hear this from leaders more than anything else. Not "I'm overwhelmed." Not "I need better systems."

"I miss the version of me who could decide — and move on."

That version of you didn't disappear.

Your brain has a built-in survival system. It evolved to scan for threats, protect you from danger, and keep you alive.

But it can't tell the difference between a charging animal — the primary threat of the primitive era — and the high-stakes decisions you face today.

Under pressure, the primitive survival brain takes over — and the part of your brain that thinks clearly, decides calmly, and moves forward with certainty?

It gets crowded out.

This isn't a confidence problem. It's not a strategy problem. It's not even a stress problem.
