Tuesday Men’s League 9-8-26
The final Tuesday Men’s League is in the books with the 3 club finale. There was a lot of grumbling so it is on the calendar for next year.
To nobody’s surprise, the winning team was on the minus side, posting a -4. Tim Body Shop Dulude actually was on the plus side, +.5, one of only 3 players to be there. He was joined by Dan Whiffer Babcock and Rick Marsh Mellow as those guys were in the -2 range.
The most over points was a tie at +1. Josh Crusher Vidal and Gary Newbie St. Pierre were the guys who defied the odds and have clubs for sale today. Winners get $8.
Dumpster winners claimed they really liked the format but they finished -22.5 so that’s hard to believe. Mr. Smith #1, who looked a lot like Stewey, Mr. Smith #2, who resembled the Warden, and Mr. Smith #3 who looked like a Zero, were mostly shooting blanks today. #1 shot 78 and still didn’t make his points. Where’s the birds when you need them. #2 was -10.5, but that wasn’t worst in the League. #3 was -9, a good percentage of the total.
New to the League last week, Sam Zoo Keeper, jumped in and won something in only his second week. He was -13 and claimed the Crash and Burn Trophy for being most under points.
Closest to pin wasn’t Marsh Mellow for a change. This time Skid Mark LeClair put a shot 9’ 10” from the pin to claim the $27.
There were scoring changes from last week. Richard Sunshine Delorme eagled #2, but it wasn’t circled. Not sure why he was trying to keep it a secret. So he scored a skin on that hole. Then there’s the group who didn’t realize that #17 is now a par 3 as they scored it as a par 4. I doubt very much that you will ever see a 120 yard par 4. So the 3 birds they had were really pars. The corrected scoring left them a half point out of the Dumpster. Maybe that’s why.
Several times as of late, Dick The Warden Hislop has shot lower than his age. Most of us would have to be over 90 to do it but The Warden has done it way before then. Congrats to him.
There were 6 birdies and 1 eagle today and they all paid a skin. Bob The Builder Young, whose choice of a 5 iron makes us think he should be Bob Ground Ball Young, used his driver and was a foot from the pin on #7. He made the putt for eagle. Other skins went to Body Shop on #6 and #8, Rick Fore Wheeler on #4, Winston on #12, and Mark Frenchman on #14. Skins pay $5.
Another great season has come to an end. The League will continue until closing time but in an unofficial capacity. Same format as used in the summer with a possible scramble week. We’d like to thank the Enosburg Falls Country Club for putting up with us every Tuesday and a special Thanks To Lisa who puts the teams together and gets us going. So for Winston, Bone, Tapper, Skid Mark, Marsh Mellow, and the rest of the gang from The League, keep your head down.
