I want to commend the Shropshire board for passing the new DNA policy last night. This is a crucial first step in the right direction to restore value to Shropshires and allow breeders to once again take pride in the flocks they have invested so much time and passion into.

Is this first step perfect? Probably not—but it is a step forward. When Jesse Cole started Banana Ball, he was the first to admit it wasn’t perfect from day one. It grew because of passion and a willingness to adapt and keep improving. That is how I look at this policy: we recognized an issue and created an initial solution, with the hope that it will evolve and guide the breed toward a stronger future.

We needed a solution where a breeder can truly be a breeder, where our stud rams become more valuable, and where future livestock families want to be part of a reputable, respected breed that can regain its prominence. No one can say this board sat idle—we are trying, and we will keep working to move the breed forward. Progress never happens by standing still.

I know not everyone agrees on this approach, and I sincerely thank everyone for their input, passion, and debate.

Sharing from Oliver's page, come vist Oliver and Twister at The Big E September 25th - 28th.......

After an amazing 4-H fair, I'm exited to say that I am headed to the Big E to represent the state of Connecticut exhibiting my 4-H beef project "Twister".

Twister is a red roan Shorthorn steer currently weighing close to 1150 pounds. I bought him in Indiana this past November and have been working hard raising and working him, with Big E as a end goal!

With the Big E coming in hot, I thought this was the perfect time to invite you all to the 4-H Beef Steer Auction, September 28th at 6pm in Mallary Arena, where I will be selling Twister. I will be there Friday, Saturday and Sunday showing him against other steers from New England. Feel free to contact me with any questions if you are intrested in purchasing a steer. I hope to see you all there!

We had a fantastic trip to the All American Junior Sheep Show in Maryland this past weekend! Thank you to all volunteers and show sponsors who make this all possible for the hundreds of youth exhibiting.

We battled the 100+ degree days trying to keep the 21 sheep and ourselves cool. With that said all 8 Lincolns, 7 Southdowns, 4 Shops, and 2 Oxfords all made it through the ring. Highlighted by the Lincolns who had a fantastic day. Thank you to all who helped out in the show ring, as it was a circus at some points with 3 breeds showing on Saturday!

Thank you to Wind Valley Farm for allowing Oliver this opportunity with a great set Lincolns, not sure what he was more excited about Supreme Drive, Lincoln Top Gun Belt Buckle or all the crabs with Old Bay he crushed!

Lastly very proud of Addisen Nicholson as she was honored with the Spirt of the All American award in memory of Darrell Hall someone that helped her get her start in the Oxford breed.
