Our DNA runs deep in these mountains, the ridges, rivers, and valleys that once belonged to the Cherokee, where craftsmanship, resourcefulness, and respect for the land have always mattered. It is from that heritage
The Tom Oar knife has looked over the showroom and has informed us it has no intention of staying here much longer.
Our brand new Cartecay Cutlery T-shirts have officially arrived, and we're pretty sure they look even better in person than they do folded.
As for tonight's parade...
There was a brief discussion about letting Odin ride with us.
The meeting lasted approximately 12 seconds.
Someone asked, "What could possibly go wrong?"
Everyone else started making a list.
Kids wanting to pet him.
Fire trucks.
Sirens.
People waving flags.
Horses.
Candy flying through the air.
By the time we got to "he might try to recruit the parade marshal," the vote was unanimous.
Odin has been relieved of parade duty and reassigned to his much more important responsibilities of supervising the property, inspecting suspicious squirrels, and ensuring no hot dogs are left unattended.
If you're out enjoying Independence Day in downtown Ellijay, keep an eye out for us in the parade and give us a wave.
Have a safe Fourth of July, enjoy your family, enjoy the fireworks, and remember...
Stay Sharp!
Today, America celebrates 250 years of Independence.
Two hundred and fifty years ago, ordinary men made an extraordinary decision that liberty was worth fighting for. Since that day, generation after generation of brave Americans have answered the call, raised their right hand, taken an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, and stood watch over the freedoms we often take for granted.
Some came home carrying memories that would last a lifetime. Some came home carrying scars that no one could see. And some never came home at all, giving the ultimate sacrifice so the rest of us could live free.
Today we'll gather around grills with family and friends. We'll spend time on the lakes, in the mountains, around campfires, and under fireworks lighting up the night sky. Those moments seem ordinary, but they are only possible because extraordinary men and women have always been willing to stand between freedom and those who would take it away.
When you see Old Glory waving in the summer breeze today, don't just see a flag. See the blood that was shed for its red stripes. See the purity of purpose represented in its white. See the blue field that reminds us of the courage, vigilance, and sacrifice of those who have defended it for nearly two and a half centuries.
That flag has flown over battlefields, draped the caskets of heroes, welcomed our troops home, and stood proudly over a nation that, despite its imperfections, remains the greatest beacon of freedom the world has ever known.
So before the fireworks begin, take just a moment. Look at our flag. Say a prayer for those who never made it home, for those still serving today, and for the families who carry the burden of that service every day.
Freedom has never been free.
From our family at Cartecay Cutlery, thank you to every active and retired member of our military, every active and retired first responder, and every family who has sacrificed so that we may live as free Americans.
May God continue to bless our military, may He continue to bless our first responders, may He continue to bless our community, and may He forever bless the United States of America.
🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day. God Bless America. 🇺🇸

There are moments in life that change a family forever.
This past week, our family traveled to Colorado to say goodbye to our future daughter-in-law, Peyton. While she and William never had the chance to say, "I do," she had already become part of our family, and she always will be.
We were blessed to stand beside Peyton's parents, grandparents, and the rest of her family as they honored her final wishes in one of the most beautiful places we've ever seen. Watching them navigate such unimaginable heartbreak with so much love, strength, and grace is something that will stay with us forever. We are deeply grateful for their kindness, their hospitality, and for allowing us to share in such a personal and sacred moment.
To everyone who has prayed for our family, sent messages, reached out, or simply thought of us during these past few weeks, thank you. We have felt your love every step of the way.
Tomorrow, Cartecay Cutlery will reopen and return to our normal business hours.
We're looking forward to getting back to seeing familiar faces, talking knives, sharpening blades, sharing stories, and doing what we love. If you've been meaning to stop by, we'd be honored to see you.
Life has a way of reminding us that every day is a gift. Don't let the people you love wonder how much they mean to you.
Thank you again for walking this road with us. We look forward to seeing everyone soon.
The Biggs Family,
Cartecay Cutlery
As our family travels to honor Peyton's final wishes, Cartecay Cutlery will be closed Saturday through Tuesday of next week. We will reopen on Wednesday.
Thank you for your continued prayers, kindness, and understanding during this difficult time. Your love and support mean more to our family than words can express.
We have decided to reopen Cartecay Cutlery tomorrow, Wednesday 06/24/2026
We do ask for everyone's patience and understanding in the days ahead, as, at some point, we will be traveling to honor Peyton's final wishes. At this time, we do not know when those arrangements will take place, and there may be occasions when we need to close on short notice.
We will do our best to keep everyone updated as plans become finalized.
Thank you for your continued prayers, support, and understanding.
Today, our hearts are broken.
On Father's Day, a beautiful young woman named Peyton was taken from this world far too soon in a tragic accident in Louisiana.
There are no words that can adequately describe the loss being felt by those who loved her. Our hearts ache for her mother and family, and especially for her father, who lost his only child on Father's Day. As parents ourselves, we cannot begin to imagine the depth of that pain.
Peyton was the kind of person who left an impression on everyone she met. She had a beautiful smile, a strong spirit, and a personality that could light up any room. She brought joy, laughter, and energy wherever she went. She was the kind of young woman who made people feel better simply by being around her.
In our family, we affectionately called her our "little spitfire." She was tough, determined, fearless, and full of life. She had a spark that could never be ignored and a heart that was larger than life itself. She loved fiercely, laughed often, and lived fully.
Most of all, she loved our son William, and he loved her with all his heart.
To call Peyton William's girlfriend doesn't begin to tell their story. She was his best friend, his partner, his constant companion, and the love of his life. They built their lives together, worked together, dreamed together, and were rarely apart. Anyone who knew them knew how deeply they loved one another.
The loss William is carrying is beyond words, and our family is grieving alongside him.
We want to thank everyone who has reached out with prayers, messages, phone calls, and support. Your kindness has meant more than you know during these incredibly difficult days.
Because our family's focus right now must be on supporting William, honoring Peyton's memory, and helping one another through this unimaginable loss, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our upcoming Cartecay Cutlery ribbon cutting event. We will announce a new date at a later time.
For now, we simply ask for your prayers.
Please pray for Peyton's mother and father, for her family and friends, for William, and for all whose lives were touched by this remarkable young woman.
Though her time here was far too short, the love she shared, the joy she brought, and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her forever
Thank you
