Sizes are alloted as you register, the registration system will give you the choice of a "race logo" shirt if there are any remaining in the size you pick. Once we run out, you'll receive a Mountain Goat logo shirt.

It takes an army to host the Fool's Gold Bike Races - here are the volunteer positions we still need to fill on Saturday September 12. These are all in the Dahlonega, GA area. Please email [email protected] if you can assist. All volunteers receive either a $100 entry credit, a 2026 Fool's Gold Entry for a friend/family member, or a $100 donation to a trail organization/youth team of your choice.

6 am to Noon - Parking/Registration/Pre-Lunch Setup
11 am to 5 pm - Bull Mountain Aid Station Crew Member
10 am to 3 pm - Bull Mountain Aid Station Medic
8:30 am to 2:30 pm - Course Marshal
1 pm to 7 pm - Course Marshal
8 am to ?? - Sweep Rider (can be an ebike)
Noon to ?? - Sweep Rider (can be an ebike)

Northeast GA SORBA is hosting a work day at Bull and Jake on August 29th to cut back briars on the Jones Creek Dam Trail. Details are in the post below - please consider helping out if you enjoy riding the Bull and Jake Trails.

Fool's Gold Mountain Bike Race guaranteed shirt size deadline is this Friday August 15th. Register by then to ensure you get your preferred size and to also lock in the lowest entry price. It will go up by $10 once we hit 200 riders.

CALL FOR FOOL'S GOLD VOLUNTEERS! Its that time of year again - we are looking for folks who'd like to assist with the upcoming Fool's Gold MTB race on September 12, 2026. We currently have a lot of positions available including course marshals, aid stations, registration, and post-race help at Montaluce. Fool's Gold volunteers who work a 6 hour shift earn a $100 entry credit to a future event OR if you have a spouse/friend coming with you to the race and they volunteer on your behalf, you can race this year's event for free. I have a couple of spots available for registration helpers who would help Friday 4-8 pm AND Saturday 6-7:30 am, and still be able to race the 2026 FG on an entry credit. Please email [email protected] if you would like to assist with your availability, shirt size, and if you have a preferred position.

For those wondering, we decided to keep the 2026 Maxxis Tires Fool's Gold date in September, but we would really like to move it to October in 2027 with a bit of schedule coordination and more time to make adjustments. The 2026 race date will be September 12, 2026 which is its usual second Saturday in September.
