The NSA office was a bit quiet for a few days as we brushed up on regulatory procedures and Rules of Racing alongside ROAP-accredited stewards and racing officials from both the steeplechase and flat racing worlds.

Topics ranged from safety initiatives and veterinary protocols to wagering integrity and transparency in the stewards’ stand. Coming together as an industry is beneficial on so many levels, and learning from one another is crucial to the continued growth and betterment of our sport.

A tremendous thank you to all of our presenters and attendees who traveled from across the United States to participate. And a special thank you to Dr. Anderson and her staff for graciously accommodating our group in their beautiful conference room.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn, collaborate, and continue working together to strengthen our sport. 🏇

Many thanks to Dr. Al Griffin and the Virginia Gold Cup Races Committee for organizing an educational and fun schooling day for fall season trainees, and to the Great Meadows grounds crew for setting the course and having the turf in tip top shape!

In addition to today’s ARCA races, we’re pleased to share U.S. Pony Racing’s seven race card at the Big T, Timonium! Junior jocks and their ponies will head to post at 10am. Cheer on the next generation of jump and flat jockeys as they take to the dirt track for some VERY exciting sprint races! Pony racing is a fantastic pathway for aspiring professional jockeys, so keep note of their names as you’re guaranteed to see some of them back in the entries at the major tracks in the years to come!

As we transition to the Fall Season, steeplechasers will have a 3-week break from racing, but the jockeys are steady away at the races. Join us in cheering on amateur timber and flat jockey Sophie O’Brien as she continues her ARCA journey, representing the United States in Turkey and Germany!
