If you have ever been around Walt or I, you know we treat our staff, friends etc like family! Today was the last day of the season and all but 2 of our full time lifeguards came to visit. In total we were only missing 4 of our full time staff. The folks in these photos are our extended family!!!

Labor Day weekend is almost here. 🎉

Pools, lakes, and backyard gatherings — it's one of the best weekends of summer. But drowning doesn't discriminate. It doesn't care how old you are, how well you swim, or how many people are around. It can happen to anyone, anywhere there's water.

The good news? Layers of protection dramatically lower the risk. No single layer is enough on its own — but stacked together, they save lives.
🛟 Assign a water watcher — a sober adult, phone-free, with eyes only on the water the entire time.
🚪 Secure access points — fences, gates, and door alarms keep curious kids from wandering into water unsupervised.

One layer can fail. Multiple layers protect. Share this to save a life this weekend. 💙

What is shallow water blackout?
Hyperventilation (consciously or unconsciously) reduces carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in the blood as it is exhaled at an increased rate.
As the breath-hold continues, oxygen (O2) levels in the blood drop.
Usually an increase in CO2 in the blood would trigger the desire to breathe and the swimmer would end the breath hold attempt. Due to the hyperventilation, CO2 levels are too low to trigger this, and the urge to breathe doesn’t occur as early.
This, combined with low O2 levels, can cause the swimmer to go unconscious.
Once unconscious, the body will react by initiating a breath. However, whilst submerged, the lungs will fill with water. If immediate assistance does not occur, death by drowning can occur.
